good gym in bayshore/islip area?

Help! I just went to bally's in bay shore and practically ran out of there before stepping foot on any type of machine because the place totally skeeved me out! it was very crowded and i felt like every man was checking me out! i want to feel comfortable at a gym, but it doesnt necessarily have to be a ladies gym. I want to have lots of different cardio machines, and weight machines too. i also do not want to pay an arm and a leg and get locked into a 3 year contract! does anyone have any suggestions...even if it's slightly out of the bayshore/islip area? thanks!

I only know the pricing for Smithtown. I guess you could email them or call and they will give you a quote.

thanks ladies...do you know that gyms will not give you a quote over the phone? they make you go to the gym to find out how much it is!

I got quotes through email and confirmed it when I went in. Did you try to email the gym of your choice?

I go to Fitness Incentive in Babylon...its great, they offer soo many classes. Its 660 for the year, you can pay at once or you can pay quarterly.

hey ladies...thanks again for the tips. i checked out all 4 fitness in west islip and im considering joining. it is very clean and they seem to have good classes and lots of machines. but i also wanted to check out the golds gym in islip, but i cant find it online, i guess its too new. could you tell me where it is exactly? TIA

stay away from the islip golds gym

staff is very snooty. no interest what so ever in my visit to join. ive heard lots of complaints

the place was filthy and the owner was yelling at staff in front of us. i tried out east islip fitness center and it was a breath of fresh air.

Love islip Gold's. I think the place is beautiful and is always clean....Lots of great machines and the staff is always great to me.....Love the shake bar.....

Where is Islip is the Golds Gym. FH goes to Gold's Gym in Nassau since he was 13 and he takes me with him once in a while but, I would love to have something close.

It is one block west of Route 111 off of Spur Drive South. The name of the block escapes me but if you take 111 to spur you make a right onto Spur if you were traveling north and your left if you were traveling north. you make your first left onto the street and the golds in on the right. There is a sign and the name sounds like Freeman or Fergurson, Something like that.....Hope that helps...I really love that gym....

I go to Sunrise Fitness on Sunrise Highway in Holbrook, across from the Atias Flea Market....might be to far for you though....

But there is no contract, and you can do month-to-month membership....

It is nice too...
