NWR: Advice to cheer up a friend

Hi Ladies,

I wanted to get some ideas from you because you are all very creative and have very fun ideas. My friend is sick with Hodgkin's. She is my age 27 and this is her 2nd time with Hodgkin's. Her first time was 2 years ago and now she has relapsed. Because it is her 2nd time she has to go through a lot of difficult treatments. Her next phase will be staying at the hospital for about 5 weeks and first getting heavy duty chemo twice a day and then stem cell transplants. She will begin this on Sunday. Because Saturday is her last day to really get out and enjoy herself I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on what I could do for her. She is a really competitive person and likes to play different sports, so I was thinking of bringing her Duckpin Bowling and inviting a bunch of friends and making it like a surprise get-well party.
Do you ladies have any other ideas? She can't get her nails done or facials because of risk of infection and she can't drink either.

Thanks

Re: NWR: Advice to cheer up a friend

That is really sweet of you to give your friend a get-well party. I hope she does just that-gets well and lives a looong healthy and happy life!

Unfortunately, since it is winter time, it's so difficult to play sports and things like that. But I liked your bowling idea. It's something that a lot of people can get together and do and have a great time!

I'm not sure where you are from, but if you go to Jillian's (one in Westbury and one in Farmingdale that I know of) they have bowling, billiards, arcades, food, bar, and soo many other kinds of games to enjoy. It's always a fun day out and again, you could bring a lot of friends! I hope I could help.

Well good luck to you and your friend.

Jillians is a good idea. I would think anything you do will be great. You sound like such a special friend. Maybe a day of beauty? Massage?

It sounds like she really needs a great night out! I always thinks that dinner is awesome. Take her to her favorite restaurant or her favorite food. Invite a whole bunch of people that she loves to be around. David and Busters in palisades mall is fun, they have everything! Maybe go out some where to dance and just be silly! Good luck I hope that she gets better, and the chemo works! Keep us updated
