is it worth it to insure my ring?
is it worth it? i mean if my ring was 5k and up i think it makes sense , but what if it is alot less expensive?? how much is insurance for a ring ( not homeowners etc)? and and what point is it worth insuring...vs the cost of insuring it for years that might add up to exactly how much it cost in the first place? just curious!! ty

Re: is it worth it to insure my ring?
Well, a jewelry rider on a homeowners or renters insurance policy does not cost a lot. Also, if the appraisal value of the item is higher than 10K, I was advised that a rider on homeowners won't cover it all and a separate policy is necessary.
I believe that a separate policy is about 1-2% of the appraisal value per year.
I had a friend tell me that her husband's wedding ring is 10 karat gold with no stones in it and they have insurance on it. Can that be?
There are at least 1-2 girls here in the insurance industry and maybe they will give more info!

Re: is it worth it to insure my ring?
It is a personal choice. I would insure it because if it breaks you want to be able to fix it. I think that the amount you pay for it to be insured varies depending on the amount that the ring was insured for.

Re: is it worth it to insure my ring?
it's definitely a personal choice. my e-ring is insured for replacement value and just like any insurance, it's peace of mind.

Re: is it worth it to insure my ring?
yes, you would need to have it appraised. an appraisal with a dossier is usually around $100.

call your insurance co now and see. you can just give them a range of how much you think it will appraise for to get an idea of what it will cost.

Re: is it worth it to insure my ring?
I would def insure your ring. For example I got earrings for xmas that where about 2700 and it was only $14 to insure for the entire year.I have my insurance through Chubb.

Re: is it worth it to insure my ring?
My insurance is with jeweler's mutual and my ring was appraised at around 7K but it cost a lot less. The policy is less than 150 a year and I think it's well worth it. I know that if I ever lose the ring, it gets damaged etc. All that is covered.

No receipt, they have to value it based on what they see not how much you actually paid.

I agree with the other ladies. Get your ring insured! God forbid something happens... you'll be so glad that you insured it. I think it's worth the piece of mind.

Good example: my sisters friends diamond fell out of the prongs and she didn't have insurance for her ring.....well not she has a ring with no diamond.
DH would not let me wear my ring till we got
it insured.

Insure the ring. You will regret it otherwise.

Re: is it worth it to insure my ring?
DEFINITELY INSURE. I HAVE A RIDER ON MY HOMEOWNERS POLICY. ITS $10 PER $1000. EX. A $10,000 RING WOULD BE $100/YEAR. IT COVERS THEFT, DAMAGE AND LOSS.Welcome New Vendors
