Questions you wished you asked your florist
Hi all, Congrats on your weddings and becoming newlyweds. I am meeting with florists and I was wondering if there were any questions you wished you had asked your florist before you booked them. Or any questions you did ask that you are glad you did.

Re: Questions you wished you asked your florist
Hi, nope cant say there was. I was happy with my florist when I booked with them, however at my wedding my CP's were not as full as the sample CP they showed me in their showroom, that was my gripe, but otherwise they were straight shooters and the contract was straight to the point no hidden agenda and my sales person was really good too. My only questions really was what time will they be at my house, at the hall, when can I see the sample CP, can I change colors at anytime if I needed too, of course price, nothing else I can think of right now.

A very important question, Do you actually decorate the cake or do you just provide the flowers? My florist said they would decorate the cake but didn't they just provided the flowers and said that no florist ever decorates the cake!

Re: Questions you wished you asked your florist
One minor mistake I made...when I ordered the boutineers (sp?) I didn't specify anything, just said I had 10 guys I needed them for, ot even thinking. Well on the day of my wedding the boutineers for my stepson and nephew were huge on them. The roses were big and beautiful for the older, bigger guys but for the kids they were way too big, so my suggestion is to tell them if your having younger kids in there so they can scale their boutineers down a bit. But other than that...my florist asked all the questions and had a good handle on what was needed. Good Luck!!

What kind of holder will my niece get for her flowers? All the girls BOKs were in beautiful silver holders. My florist said that my niece's BOK should be smaller b/c of her size. She said it woiuld be a communion size BOK. I didn't realize that she was going to get a plastic holder. My niece was sad.

My florist decorated the cake. I've never heard of them not! I'm shocked!

I was shocked too....I found out by accident...my maitre d' did it. My husband was on the phone screaming at the florist before the ceremony. They also messed up my bouquet. It was National Wholesale Florist. I never complained to them because it just wasn't worth the aggravation.

Re: Questions you wished you asked your florist
my florist did proposal with pictures of the kinds of flowers she would use and very detailed description as well as prices. i reviewed, gave her feedback, she modified it, and we had a final version. it was part of our contract and i felt we had very clear communication from the beginning. perhaps something like this would help.i also had seen lots of pictures of previous work.

Re: Questions you wished you asked your florist
Our florist was great, but instead of giving me pedals in our flowergirl basket he put a mini bouguet in there, and I knew that was not going to work because our niece had been practicing for weeks to throw the flowers..thta was the only thing i never mentioned..
