Is everyone having a rehearsal dinner?
My parents are not paying for it and said it is traditionally the boy's family that pays. However, his family is already paying for the band, flower, video and honeymoon. My FH doesnt think one is necessary-- Any thoughts?

Re: Is everyone having a rehearsal dinner?
We are having one. Even if you dont do a traditional dinner, its nice to get everyone together to meet. My best friend didnt have a dinner..she just did the rehearsal and then had everyone back to her in-laws house for coffee and cake. It was very nice to have everyone together and it was inexpensive!

Re: Is everyone having a rehearsal dinner?
I think it's nice to have something right before the wedding. You can even order in pizza or sandwiches and have a very informal gathering at someone's house. It's a nice way to spend time with family and friends right before the big day. Your wedding day is so hectic and goes by so fast. You won't really be able to spend quality time with those you're closest to on your wedding day. The RD is a nice way to relax and spend time with those you're closest with.

exactly. there's no need to go all-out or have something really formal. a RH can just be ppl getting together before the wedding to relax and reconnect with everyone close to you.

Re: Is everyone having a rehearsal dinner?
I think it is nice to have. I do not think it is necessary to have a huge one. Why not just have an intimate coctail party at someone's house with apps and drinks???

Re: Is everyone having a rehearsal dinner?
We're not. I've been a BM in 4 weddings and a MOH in 2, and I never went to a rehersal dinner!! Weird, huh??

We are having one but at our house...We are still in a toss up of what we are doing food wise...It all depends on what day it is...we might just do finger foods or cake & coffee..

As it typically is the Bride's family who financially supports and hosts the wedding day, the groom's family hosts the rehearsal dinner. So, my FH and I are doing a rehearsal dinner at Mario's in Setauket (affordable by any means). However, if my In-Laws had said no, we probably would have everybody over to our place for ziti and dessert since our rehearsal is at dinner time. It's up to you and what you want to do. My FH and I are going to use this time to thank our families for all their support and give the wedding thank you gifts to the bridesmaids, groomsmen, usher and our parents and those doing the readings and other things at the ceremony.
