Walking Down the Aisle w/ Son

I'm new at this chat ~ so I'm asking for advise. I'm not the traditional kind of bride ~ this is my second time around and rather than having my father walk me down the aisle I want my 11 year old son walk me down. Do you think this is tacky? Any suggestions? I want the minister who will officiate our wedding to include a part for my son as well ~ sort of like uniting all 3 of us as one? Please tell me your thoughts. Thanks!

I think that is a great idea and not tacky at all. My friend got married again and had her son and daughter walk her down the aisle, and it was beautiful.

I think it's beutiful. My grandmother raised me from 2 years old. I'm walking down halfway alone and she's walking me down the other half of the way

Hi Sheila!! Welcome to LIW!!! There are lots of 'non-traditional' brides on here who are getting married for the 2nd time and/or have a child. You're certainly not alone, so please don't feel that way!!

My FH was married before and his daughter (who's 8) is actually going to be walking him down and standing in as a jrBM. So to answer your question, no I don't think having your son walk you down is tacky at all!! I'd also like to include her by saying something during the ceremony that would unite the 3 of us as an official family, something about promising to always be good to her and care for her. Kind of like vows, but on a stepmom/stepdaughter level.

I'M WALKING DOWN THE AISLE WITH MY 7 YEAR OLD SON. ALL THREE OF US WILL BE UP BEFOR THE JOTP.

My 8 year old son will be walking me down the aisle. I'm very excited about it. He will also be at the alter with us because FI is vowing to take care of him, support him etc. It's going to be very special and memorable. I just hope I keep it together. We're including him in every way possible.

I think it's really sweet to have your son participate by walking you down the aisle. It's not tacky at all.
