Dad wants to pay for OOT guests's hotel!

I am so mad! My mom told me last night that my father wants to pay for the OOT guests to stay in a hotel for up to 3 nights!! Some of our relatives are coming from other countries and he feels bad they can't stay at the apartment and about the extra expense for them!(so don't come is what I say!) I mean honestly are any of you doing this? I really feel they are taking advantage of my parents with this kind of set up!

Honestly, I think it's a nice gesture. We went to an OOT wedding last summer and the grooms family paid for the hotel rooms. We were very appreciative of that because we had spent alot of money to fly there and rent a car.

I am not paying for OOT guests because I cant afford it. I am also having ppl come from other countires. If your dad is able to do it, it really is a nice gesture but not necessary.

I think he is going to try to work overtime to pay for this...he does blue collar work and is 61 years old! My fam is big on the guilt trips and he always falls for it...its so aggravating!

That is a very nice gesture on his part - but make sure he knows it isn't necessary. I was considering paying part of my OOT guests room cost - like $20 per room per night - so it was a lower cost - but I just don't have the $$$.

You know it girl! If we visit them..we pay! If they visit us....we pay! its definitely a trend!! The panamerican hotel on Qns Blvd is close to the ceremony site plus they have a shuttle so I am assuming that's the one he was thinking about.

Please let your dad know that he doesn't need to kill himself with overtime to please the family. While it is VERY generous of him to want to do that, family shouldn't guilt him into doing it.

If they say that they won't come because your dad's not paying for their room - then it's up to you and your family if it's worth paying for their hotel stay to have them celebrate with you.

WE are paying for 1/2 the bill for everyone who is staying over night, we are having it at an Inn and whant our familys and friends to stay overnight and have a GREAT time drinking and dancing. :):)

Exactly..You said it chica!! I was curious about the hotels cause there isnt any by my church (Qns Village), so I was looking around Leonards.. but I never thought about looking on Qns Blvd.

that is not necessary unless your family can easily afford it. we are not paying for our oot guests and we have many. i have attended a number of weddings OOT and never had my room paid for........

We have a similar problem- My Fh was a best man in a wedding upstate and the father paid for him to stay in a hotel for 2 nights and now that he will be in our wedding party- do we have to pay for him to stay? My FH's father died when he was 7 and my FMIL doesnt have a lot of money.

I PERSONALLY paid hotel for all my OOT guests, I felt bad for my girlfriends who had to pay airfare. My IL's actually paid airfare & accomidations for all their guests from EUROPE!
