Custom Bridal Gown

Does anyone know where I can have a wedding gown made? After searching for my perfect dress at about 25 different bridal stores I still haven't had that feeling that I have found 'the one'. I know exactly what I want so I have decided to design my own wedding dress. The only problem is I have no idea where to have it made.
Please let me know if anyone has had their dress custom made and what recommendations you may have. Otherwise if anyone has seen an elegant strapless dropped waist gown with beading on the bodice, bottom of the skirt and along the train that isn't overdone, please pass that info along too.
Thank you!

Re: Custom Bridal Gown

The dress you are looking for sounds similar to what I got! I found that I really liked the bottoms of the Reem Acra dresses but none of the tops really were right for me(I wanted a little dip in the top and subtle crystals, etc). Then I went to bridal reflections and found a bodice crystal pattern (swarovski)that I liked, but it didnt have a dip in it either and the bottom wasnt what I liked. After awhile of explaining to the lady exactly what I was looking for, she pinned the bodice so that it had a dip in it and took off a lip it had in another area. Then she had me put two dresses on (for the fullness) and pinned the bottom exactly like the Reem Acra dress bottoms that I loved. So in the end it took thousands of pins and two dresses to get the look I wanted, but she ordered the bodice dress and expained to the designer how I wanted it completely changed--so Im not technically having it made from scratch, but it will be a dress nobody else has and it is exactly what I want. It took awhile to get my point across about how I wanted the bottom--but when she eventually pinned it it was PERFECT!! They were so patient with me and I cant imagine how much Im going to love it when its one piece if I loved it this much not together. Anyway, the point is if you go to Bridal Reflections and just find something that you like on a dress they can totally make the rest of the dress to fit it. My dress is literally nothing like the one I tried on (the original was a line and Im getting an enormous ballgown) I was amazed what they could do. Good Luck!!

Re: Custom Bridal Gown

I had my dress made by a dressmaker referred to me from other knotties. She's located in Manhattan (Washington Heights) and charges $500-$800, including material. If you have pictures of what you want, she'll replicate it exactly.

FM me for her information.

Here are pics from my first fitting, but the dres is now complete and at home - just haven't taken any pics yet.

Re: Custom Bridal Gown

I really loved this gown by Essence of Australia, it sounds like what you described... don't know where you can get it made though...
