Re: Who is having a 'Black Tie' wedding and..

i should have thought of this but i didn't. I don't necessarily want black tie, but i should have put formal attire on the invite (stupid me). I wouldn't put it pass some of my family members wearing jeans and a t-shirt. How do I rectify this situation? I know I am no help, but thought i'd ask too.

if you're going to use black tie on your invites, IMO, the most 'PC' way to say it is: 'black tie welcome'

We are either putting 'Black Tie Invited' or 'Black Tie Preferred' or 'Black Tie Encoraged'

I like invited...

I didn't really think about it beforehand, but I just put 'Black Tie'

Re: Who is having a 'Black Tie' wedding and..

I put 'Black Tie' and had no issues about doing it. People who were curious asked. If you own a tux, wear it. If you don't a dark suit and dark tie would be fine. I just did not want people showing up in Dockers and sports jackets. I waited a long time for this day and PC or not, 'Black Tie' it is. We also have a guest list where most of our male guests are over the age of 30. I would imagine they are more inclined to own a tux than some younger men. There was a time when people knew that a Saturday night event was automatically black tie - if people still knew that, there would be no need to indicate the request in print.
