What's a good Baptism gift?

DH and I are invited to a Baptism. I was thinking of giving a savings bond. what other gifts would be appropriate IYO?

We always give savings bonds too; money works as well. I also love the Precious Moments figurines.

We always give savings bonds too; money works as well. I also love the Precious Moments figurines.

you need the baby's SSN for a savings bond, right? I got one for a baptism years ago and needed that info, I think

if you give a check, do you make it out to the parents or the baby?

Yes, unless you use your own. Which is OK if it's family, otherwise no.

I would make the check to the parents...maybe the baby doesn't have an account yet?

it is family (DH's side) but I def do not want to give my own SSN.

i remember being in college and my teacher sayings that the parents would make more money investing it elsewhere..... maybe a gold cross or something personalized with the baby's name
