nwr: question - renting a uhaul?

Have any of you ever rented a uhaul truck? My grandmother is selling her house and has given me a bunch of her furniture, but I need to go up to Connecticut to get it. I've never rented a uhaul before, so I'm not sure what size truck I need, and I wasn't sure if you have to have a commercial license to drive one? The biggest car I've ever driven is a Lincoln Navigator, I'm worried about whether or not I can handle a truck.

Also, it says they charge by the mile? How does that work?

Any tips/comments/whatever on renting a uhaul would helpful, I'm trying to figure all this out.

do yourself a favor and DO NOT use u-haul. go with penske or budget or anyone else. u-haul's trucks break down constantly, their 'reservations' are meaningless, and their customer service is horrible. they really screwed over me and fh when we were moving out, and since then, i've learned of many u-haul horror stories from friends and family.

as for truck size, unless you're moving more than one room's worth of furniture, the smallest truck size these companies have should be large enough.

mbm750 is SOOO right. Do not use U-Haul. FH and I have used both Penske and Budget and have had no problems with either one.

wow, thanks! I dont know anybody who has rented one recently, so I hadn't heard that.
