Guest List - poll, sort of

For those who are paying for their wedding on their own, how many of your parents guests are you willing to add?
Budget is a big issue and my FH's family list is just growing beyond my wishes. and there seems to be no room for negotiation.

I don't really have this problem as my parents have given me a very short list. But in the case that you are paying, give them a number, and anyone they can't fit can go on the 'B' list.

My parents really didn't give me too big of a list and either did FH's mom but FH added so many of his friends!!!

I couldn't could any family of course but each of my husbands parents had 1 table each of friends. My dad had 1 table and my mom and a table and a half.

There isn't anyone either set of mother's has asked us to include that we didn't think of on our own.

I'm lucky that I don't have this problem, but I would sit down with FI and determine how many people you wish to have a your wedding. I would then inform both sides of how many they can invite (which your side doesn't sound like an issue) and leave it up to your FILs side to cut where necessary.

All this planning has made me a heartless b*tch, but if that were me, I would tell them you have X amount of people, make it work. They need to get out the chopping block themselves because it's not my problem. I really think that it's the responsibility of your FI to tell his parents though, not yours.

We only have maybe 15 peole that our parents added, but out of the 15 half we would have invited on our own anyway. And 4 of them most likely won't come.

(Also both sets of parents offered to pay for their guests, but we said no.)

I am basicaaly only inviting family and my mom only invited 2 or 3 of her friends which I don't mind cuz they are like m y family anyway my dad invited 1 of his friends and in laws aren't inviting any friends so this really isn't a problem

My parents and FI's parents are paying for the reception, FI & I are paying for the rest.

In terms of the guestlist - each set of parents are inviting 50 and FI & I are inviting 25 each.
