Votive Table numbers-Got Slammed

Hey Guys!
FH and I made our first trial of the votive table numbers. We got 10.5 inch vases in order to make sure they are easy to spot and do not get lost since we will be having a high centerpieces (guests eyes will be initially drawn higher on the table). We really liked how it came out and I was so excited to show my parents who both totally slammed them! They thought it was way too big and that it would look foolish along with the votive placecards we want to do! I told my mom that I love candles and candlelight since it IS a wedding after all (more romantic IMO), and she said it won't look nice instead it will look like a funeral. My dad today said the same thing and mentioned that it is way too tall and instead should be low (but then how the heck will the guests see it?). It pathetic but I feel soo bad and unsure now (of course all this happens AFTER I bought everything!).

I am including pics so u guys can give me ur honest opinions. Keep in mind that FH made a monogram that will print like a shadow in the background and that we will not keep the striped ribbon, I will use a solid colored chocolate brown ribbon.

Honestly? I LOVE them. You have just inspired me to do them. Do YOU like them? Thats whats important!!

I think it looks gorgeous! I can totally picture how nice it will look when guests walk into the room and see the soft glow coming from their table. Stick with your idea, it is so unique and special and I think your guests will really appreciate the finer details like the ribbon trim.

Thank you! I do like them, but I hate the fact that its so easy to make me question myself, now I am imagining that they will look grotesque and huge and throw everything off... If you need any help I can email u the template FH made. I am really bag at creating even the basic stuff so he helped me.

You know what? i've found this WHOLE wedding process makes me question thngs I was sure of. I am a VERY decisive (sp?) person, and people are swaying me. I want my hair half u half down, and my BM tells me a 'bride' to her has always been in a up do. I questioned myself. I want a headband, FMIL tells me a tiara sys 'bride' I questioned myself. You have to go with your gut. That will be BEAUTIFUL. Candles are very romantic, and yes, please FM me ANY info you have on making them, because I ama craft spaz!!

I like them. Do you have a pic of the CP's you will be using (or something like the CP's you are using) so I can get a better idea of what they will look like together? I love candle light at weddings. I know my parents weren't big on candles either, but it does give it a more romantic atmosphere.

I am using the same one as PIZZ2306 only the stand will be chocolate brown, I tried to cut out the centerpiece from the pic, I hope it works! It will have 4 dozen blush pink roses, with creme hydrangea as filler (no greens)

I think they look wonderful!!! Very elegant looking..and I dont think they are too big. Your guests need to be able to spot them from across the room so they dont have to go up to each table to see if it is theirs.

Honestly, YOURS came out BEAUTIFUL! I have seen a few different ones, and these actually made me think about doing them. Totally FAB!!

IF they made you TWO happy, then I say use them, plus sometimes it's hard for people to imagine them, when your parents see them on the tables, with the flowers and the whole look comes together I am sure they will eat their words!!

Booba - they look absolutely beautiful!!!! It's your wedding - your way - people are going to put down your ideas simply b/c they're not used to seeing them. unfortunately, it stings more when it comes from mom & dad. But, I LOVE THEM!!!!!

no it definatly won't look like a funeral. Infact I didn't understand the topic and was quite impressed with them.
I think it is a great idea. Your parents don't get it because it is something they have never seen

I LOVE them! I know it's hard because you want your parents to be as excited as you but my Mom has been negative about most aspects of my wedding (it's going to be very non-traditional) but as soon as she 'sees' what I am trying to do she says 'Oh, that will look nice!' I think you're visualizing the big picture and maybe they can't, once they see it all pulled together I think they'll agree that it's beautiful! If YOU & FH like it that's what should matter! I think they came out GREAT!!

Thank you so much girls! It sounds silly that this kind of stuff upsets me but its just an extra thing that my parents hate that I am doing for my wedding (hate my wedding colors, hate the high centerpieces...the list just keeps getting bigger). FH thanks you girls too, you would not believe how he readily always says 'ask the girls on LIW'. In regards to the template, FH made it in adobe photoshop but he will redo it in Microsoft word tonite. As soon as its done I will send it out.

they look gorgeous...your parents don't have to like them as long as you do. maybe it's a little too 'different' for them...but I think they look gorgeous!
