Help me pick my Aruba Hotel

My FH and me finally decided on Aruba but now comes the hard part...picking the hotel. I really don't think we're gonna go thru a travel agent for this because it's a relatively easy trip - direct flight and one hotel for 11 days - and I know I'll get a better deal booking online. We have it narrowed down to 3 hotels: the Hyatt - we've seen pictures and it's really gorgeous, read reviews and all positive - only con is the teeny tiny balcony and smaller sized rooms. 2) the Mariott - great reviews, a little less luxiurious than the Hyatt but bigger sized rooms and huge balcony. 3) the Radisson - just added this one into the mix because I was talking to a colleague last night over dinner and he was telling me that he visited Aruba last year with his GF and out of all the hotels they saw, they liked the Radisson the best and it seemed like the most fun for a couple in our age group. so as u girls could see I'm confused can any of u who have been to Aruba shed some light on this for me???

Re: Help me pick my Aruba Hotel

Have not been to Aruba, but Fh and I were thinking of this as a destination as well. I know that the Marriott Ocean and Surf Club has just renovated, so we were leaning towards that. We picked Aruba cause its below the hurricane belt, but, FH really wants to do a cruise and he does not care about the chance of a hurricane. Check out tripadvisor to see actual traveler reviews on the hotels you are thinking of.

Re: Help me pick my Aruba Hotel

FH and I went to Aruba over the summer and stayed at the Wyndham, but we walked through all of the hotels. The Hyatt is definitely the most luxurious. What was nice about he Hyatt was they had umbrellas attached to their pool chairs, so you can cover yourself when the sun gets too strong. They also have a slide into the pool. The Radisson is also very nice. The grounds are very lush and tropical. We didnt get down to the Marriott because it is one of the last hotels on the strip. To me, that hotel is too far down. The Hyatt and Radisson are pretty central on the strip. I would choose between those two. Radisson has an open air lobby and a very nice casino. Going with either would make for a fabolous honeymoon.

Re: Help me pick my Aruba Hotel

I've done a lot of research on Aruba. Here are my findings:

Bucuti Beach Resort (Tara Suites) - very popular for honeymooners. It's on a quiet beach and doesn't have a lot of kids there. I haven't seen one bad review on trip advisor.

Occidental Grand Aruba - just finishing up a $20+ renovation. It's all inclusive which makes it a good deal (especially if you like to drink!) but I've also heard the food in aruba is really good.

Hyatt - supposed to be absolutely beautiful (I don't think there's a single Hyatt that isn't!) but is also very expensive.

The Marriott - I think that's the one with the private island. If I'm right, they have two different types of accommodations. One is particularly bad (i'm told) for travelers without kids and the other is great for those with kids. I'd double check trip advisor.

I hope my insight is helpful -- I realize I've listed hotels that you didn't initially mention and I don't want to confuse you! However, I think they are worth just doing a little research (IMO)

FM me if you have questions. Happy planning!

Re: Help me pick my Aruba Hotel

I would choose either the Radisson or Hyatt. Both were beautiful. We just came back from our HM and stayed at the Wyndham. We loved it there! The Hyatt's grounds are beautiful and so is the Radisson. You can't go wrong with either!

Re: Help me pick my Aruba Hotel

My FH and I are currently planning to go to Aruba, we are in the middle of doing the research now. We are seriously looking at the Wyndham, the have a good all inclusive plan. A friend of mine goes to Aruba alot and he only stays at Wyndham. Friends of mine went to Aruba last year for their honeymoon and stayed at Bucuti Bay, they said it was quaint but next time would stay somewhere else.

I didn't stay at any of those hotels when FI and I went, but from your choices I would pick the Marriott. It's a beautiful hotel

Re: Help me pick my Aruba Hotel

The Hyatt was rated 10 in Top 10 Carribean Resorts on the Travel Channel. No other hotels in Aruba were on there.
