A Very Bad Idea....

I got the bright idea to enter my known costs into the LIW budget calculator, to see what everything was costing.........

NOT a good idea...I am pretty ill right now!! I think we're all insane...spending this much money on one day....(Not that I am going to change my mind on anything.... )

I guess everyone has 'how the heck and WHY the heck are we doing this' moments right???

ABSOLUTELY!!!!

We just figured out how much cash we will need for final payments and it makes me sick just thinking about it!! My only consolation is that our tax returns should cover about half of it!!

I have those moments every day, but I have seen lots of people do it and payment plans help.

I got sick when I figured this out also. It seems that everyone time we feel like we get ahead, when have another payment to make and we're on the red again.

my fh knows that whenever he takes out the 'wedding calculator' i am either not present or if i am in the area there is a BIG glass of wine with a BIG bottle next to it--both with my name on them!!
i can't tell you how many times i have said 'omg are we crazy, what are we doing??' but then he brings me back down to earth.
he reminds me that this is what we really want and it will be worth it b/c we'll be so happy and we'll have great memories that will last a lifetime... a lot longer than just one night! so i try to tell myself that when i get freaked out.
plus, the wine REALLY helps you not care about things you normally would care about w/o it!!
it's totally normal what you are going through and you'll be okay in time... good luck with everything!!

This has totally happened to me! The best advice I got before wedding planning was don't look at the budget as whole because you will be sick - just take each individual expense and deal with it - once you add it all up you can get sick (there should be a warning at the top of the online budgeter pages )

This is a bad idea in theory because it causes you to freak out...but it's the best tool for planning your wedding and staying on budget. I loved knowing exactly how much everything cost and how much I needed to afford X item. Being that DH and I paid for everything, we had no choice.

I did the same thing and was very depressed for a few days but my FH is very relaxed and he said everything will work out- we got a lot more money back for taxes this year so that helped- I think it always winds up costing more than you originally thought- a lot of little things add up

Definitly! I made a spread sheet on excel and felt like I needed to throw up when I was done! I NEVER spend like this on myself, but hey, you only do it once!

I feel even worst because we're not paying for a thing But my grandparents woldn't have it any other way

All the time, trust me. If I had the chance to do it all again, I think I would have done things a lot differently. When I think about how much we need every penny just to live, I often feel that spending thousands on a party is kinda insane. In the end it'll be a wonderful memory though

yeah the costs and rising guest list made me ill also...so we cancelled everything and we're now having a destination wedding...

its insane how just one day costs so much money. but you have to remember that its going to be the start of the rest of your lives together, this is just one of the great days you will encounter.!

Thank you all for your encouragement, it's comforting to know that most of us are in the same boat.

i can't wait to marry my FH and I've been looking forward to this day since I was a little girl, they just never tell you how MUCH Cinderella's ball REALLY cost!!!!

I am sure we'll all have beautifully perfect days and it will all be worth it...
