NWR: Valentines Day Help!

Ok, so usually, we don't do anything for Valentine's Day. I might buy him a card and some candy but, usually that's about it.

Anyway, I found a box of candy last week while FH was away skiing and I was putting away his laundry. He insists I was snooping (he gave me the candy yesterday) but, not for nothing, it's unlike him to buy something 2 weeks early so how was I to even know it was there.

So, since I knew about the candy and he only eats peppermint patties really (and I just bought a bunch from BJs) I went to Borders yesterday and got him a cookbook for our crock pot (he loves the crock pot and loves to cook).

So, we exchange yesterday and he says I'll give you your other gift tomorrow and tells me how he found it on the internet and then went to a store and they had it and all of this effort and everything. I was like I was going to get you a dvd as well but they didn't have it (didn't know what to say).

Would you get him something else?

Re: NWR: Valentines Day Help!

if you have any other ideas of something that he would like and it's easy and affordable for you to pick up between now and tonight then yeah, why not?? but if you really have to go out of your way or it's out of your budget then i wouldn't...
maybe just do something cute and creative. i wrote all these different reasons why i love him and put them on different pieces of construction paper (red, pink) and cut them into heart shapes for my fh and he loved it--cost me less than five bucks.
other than that, i would just enjoy the things he gets you--he seems like a nice guy that wouldn't think to himself 'what about my other gift?' so that's good--i wouldn't worry about that! some women don't get men anything--they feel it's their holiday and men give to them only.
whatever happens--have fun!

I love the crockpot thingy. You've said it before and now I'm thinking that is what I'm going to get FH. He is starting to cook and all, so i think it would be perfect. Since he loves to cook, can you get to a William Sonoma, they had these really cute heart aprons and stuff like that. They also had a homemade heart marshmellow kit, some fun baking and cooking stuff, maybe you could put together a little basket of cooking supplies for him, a nice bottle of oil, I dunno...I'm trying here Ali :). Oh....I saw they have these new Reynolds things that go in the crock pot for easy clean up.... :) I dunno...I'm pulling stuff out of my butt here.

Re: NWR: Valentines Day Help!

Thanks for your feedback!

That sounds like a great idea!

I like to prepare for things like this way far in advance and have something thoughtful put together so it stresses me to find that all of the sudden, something that wasn't a big deal suddenly is!

That sounds really good actually!!!

Like I said earlier, I'm a planner and when you throw something like this at me the night before a day that used to not be a big deal, I get a little stressed!!!

Re: NWR: Valentines Day Help!

I'm the same way, then the panic sets in. Breath, think, the perfect gift will come to you, just give it a minute.

Thanks! I know it's not all about the gift but, when your FH takes the gift you give him to mean 'This is what I want you to cook for me' I feel the need to come up with something better.

Last year I got him one of those popcorn popper pots from Crate and Barrel because he loves popcorn.
