how do you say thank you to your parents?

My parents bought us all our china and FH's parents bought us all of our crystal.. we got it all within the last few weeks. Not to mention, my dad is paying for like 99% of our wedding.

Problem is, I really don't know how to thank them all, I mean, I can say my thank you's but I feel like its not enough. We are taking them all out to dinner next week, but I feel like I should do something special to really let them know how grateful and how lucky we are that they are doing all of this for us. I feel like I owe them something even though they expect nothing in return.

Any one got any suggestions?

TIA!

Re: how do you say thank you to your parents?

I dont know what kind of budget you have but a friend of mine sent her parents away for the weekend to a Bed & Breakfast in Montauk. (When all the wedding stuff was rested). She had Champagne, fruits, and chocolates waiting there for them. Her and her Hubby met them on Sunday am for breakfast and it was a nice thoughtful idea. You could cater it to your parents taste and what you can afford.

Re: how do you say thank you to your parents?

I know that parents in general really appreciate personal items- you know, like when you were a kid, you'd 'make' them something.

Why not make each of them a mini-photo album, something personal for the parents? This is what I would do.
I've made albums in the past for people, and they are always a HUGE hit, and fairly inexpensive (depending on how detailed you get). Not to mention, it's a present that is kept forever. And it doesn't take very long to put together. On the inside cover you could write a beautiful thank-you note.

I don't know where you live, but you can go to Michael's to find a wide selection of artsy bits to make a fabulous album.

I hope this helps-

Re: how do you say thank you to your parents?

To build on the album idea, for xmas, I bought my parents and FH parents albums from things remembered that I got engraved 'Engagement Memories For Our Parents'. I filled it with pics of our engagement thus far -- the proposal, our engagement party etc. Hopefully they will collect more as we have the shower etc. I think they liked it!

Re: how do you say thank you to your parents?

We're sending both sets of parents on a trip to our timeshare or my FH's condo in Myrtle (so basically, we're paying for the airfare and renting the car)

Re: how do you say thank you to your parents?

I'm doing something sentimental for my parents at least. I'm buying a double frame. One side will be a baby picture of me taking my first steps and the other side will have a bridal photo of me. Engraved on the top of the frame will be 'Love Always' or 'Your Daughter Always'. I'm thinking more towards the latter.

Re: how do you say thank you to your parents?

I made my parents a beautiful handmade card with a heartfelt letter written to them from me. Then, JT and I sent them on vacation as a thank you for the wedding.
