NWR- but... have to ask.. its about all things disney

OH boy, I am so probably going to get flamed for this, but I am bored at work right now, and am reading posts and have to ask this question.

What is the big deal about disney? Ok, I like Disney. I have been there a few times and had fun. But I am not sure I understand the obsession that some people have. Like those who go year after year after year.... don't they want to see some other places?
Maybe I am bitter because my ex's father was totally obssessed. Their house looked like a 4 year-olds bedroom, and their dog was named Minnie. Please don't yell at me, I just want to understand.

LOL I understand what your saying. Now I do love disney and am going for my HM, but I dont go every year. It is always changing and there is always something to do I cannot just go lie on a beach somewhere, so that is why it is perfect for me. Though people who's whole house is decorated like they are the disney store really is over the top.

I don't get Disney at all. Granted, I've only been once, and it was many many years ago - but I really thought it was for kids that were way younger than I was at the time.

I can't explain it. I just love it. I wanted to got o disney world so much when i was a kid and I never got to go, so it became probably a lot bigger in my head than it was. And then FH took me and I just loved it. I love the rides, i love the atmosphere, I love being able to go away somewhere for a week and act like a kid. I'm really young at heart, and I just love disney. The first time I saw the castle I burst into tears, and even now when Ai go, sometimes I just turn to FH and say "we're at disney!" and get so excited and happy. I don't know. I just love it! Our apt is gonna look like a 4 y/o's bedroom..inf act my bedroom does now. Our bedding for after the wedding has fi;mstills from snow white on it and we have lithographs and cells and disney artists drawings for the walls. I don't know I just love it! And the fact that we got engaged there only adds to it!

Re: NWR- but... have to ask.. its about all things disney

i'm not one of those obsessive disney-vacationers but i have gone there once every 3 or 4 years. i'm one of those can't-stay-still vacationers so i love that there's so much to do there and the fact that it varies so much between each theme park, the DIsney Village, and even the nightlife at Pleasure Island. It's all in one place, accessible, and affordable. They're also constantly adding new parks and new rides that you can go back in several years and have a completely different trip than the one you just went on.

Re: NWR- but... have to ask.. its about all things disney

Disney is a totally different experience as an adult and I recommend everyone goes there at least once as an adult. The first time I was there I was 14, and I had a good time, but it could not compare to going there as an adult. I also recommend going during the off season if you are going without kids like september (right after school starts) in november before Thanksgiving. It really is just fun

I don't get it either. I'd take a beach over Disney any day of the week. My Uncle goes twice a year - once to Disney and once on a Disney cruise. They love it! Whatever floats your boat, you know?

I agree with mayflower. there's so much to do, especially during special events that it cna be different all the time. I'd go crazy lying on a beach somewhere.

I think it's like vegas in a way, lots of shows, always occupied, lots to see etc.

Re: NWR- but... have to ask.. its about all things disney

We go to Disney every year. Every other year we go with my entire family because my mom has timeshare in Disney. It is so much fun to go with my entire family. On the off years just FH and I go. As someone else said, they are always changing stuff, also we're not beach people so going somewhere where there is a lot to do is awesome. Plus you can't beat the atmosphere. my house isn't decorated in Disney stuff though.

I don't get it either. I've never been, and never wanted to either. My parents wanted to take me when I was like 10, and I said no thanks, I'd rather go to a resort! I think it is just too much, you don't get to relax. Plus I am not the type of person that is into rides and all that stuff. I would much rather be at a spa or on a cruise or laying in the sun or going shopping! But that's just me!

I Went to Disney for the first time at 19 and I enjoyed the more education part in Epcot Center.I do understand how a child would find it truly amazing. I would probably enjoy it much more through the eyes of a child. I look forward to taking my kids there in the future but I am not dying to go back any time soon.

Don't worry Lauren, you're not alone, I don't get it either. I went once when I was a kid and I'll prob take my kids there someday, but for now I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. Tho I do like Great Adventure, they have a lot of good roller coasters!! So consider me a Warner Bros girl, tho I'm not obsessed.

I love rollercoasters, but disney ruined great adventure for me. Whe I was a kid I loved great adventure, but since going to disney I go to great adv enture and it looks like a dirty run down dump to me! disney is so pristine!

It's defintiely a get it or dn't thing. like some people LOVE Vegas and atlantic city. I have NO desire to go to either of these places. The ONLY reason i want to go to Vegas is to see Penn and teller. Other than that it has NO appeal for me

Re: NWR- but... have to ask.. its about all things disney

as corny as it might sound you really are happy when you're there - it's the overall atmosphere, the excitement that's all around you and as an adult it's the fact that you get the possibility to relive your childhood and act like a kid again. i went the first time when i was 17 with my parents and my younger sister and we had a blast and i'll always remember that vacation because it was our last vacation as a family and then I went last year with FH for 1 day on our return home from a Caribbean cruise. i loved experiencing it with him because he is such a kid at heart and we had sooo much fun. i will definitely go back when i have kids but i also want to go back alone with FH for more than one day obviously

Re: NWR- but... have to ask.. its about all things disney

I used to go every year - sometimes twice a year - when I was between the ages 10-18. My fiance never had been there, so I took him in May of '05. While we had a good time because we were on vacation, it lost the appeal that it had for me when I was younger, and I was so disappointed.

My favorite was always and always will be EPCOT, because I love to meet the cast members from all of the different countries and I love to learn. The best part every night was going to see the fireworks. They do an amazing job!

My sisters and brother (in their forties) and my niece (22) are all obsessed with Disney and go there every year twice a year. I doubt I'll ever go back unless my entire family takes a trip there together.
