Where do you keep your gown until the wedding?

So, I've noticed that a lot of you '07 girls have gotten their gowns already. I have a year and a half and I know it doesn't take that long for a gown to come in. So, for arguments sake, say if you are like me and getting married in October '07, and you order your gown now and it comes in by the Fall/Winter of this year......where are you storing it until the big day?
I know there's alterations and such, so it will stay at the botique for a while, but do they charge to hold your gown for a longer period of time?

I'm ordering mine through netbride in the next couple of mths and my Mom is doing the alterations. When it comes in, I'm just going to wrap it in a white sheet and leave it hanging up in the garment bag with the zip left open a little bit at the top. My sister did the same thing and she had no problems.

I was wondering the same thing. A dress shop I checked out recently told me that they will keep it at no additional charge until I'm ready to take it home. I would hope most places would also do that.

mine will stay at the bridal shop - I would be trying it on if it was here!

Mine is being stored in my MOH closet, its all packaged up still, kinda looks like a comforter, the lady at David's Bridal said there was no reason to take it out of the packaging until I need to do alterations so that is where it will most likely stay until October.

My bridal shop will hold mine until the wedding.

Whenever I find my dress, get it and are able to take it home (long time away since I haven't even started to look) then I will bring it home and like chellynyc I will be hanging it up with a white sheet over it. We did that for my sister's wedding and it worked out well.

Mine is staying at the shop until two weeks before the day!

I'm hoping I don't physical take my dress home until a week before the wedding. I have no room as it is because of all the boxes I'm using to pack up all of our stuff.

Mine is hanging in the bridal shop right now..i ended up buying one they had in stock at the time I was shopping...thought about taking it home with me but our house is too small & i have no where to put it...plus I bet FH would sneak a peek!

in all the weddings i have been in ( which feels like a million) hte bride has picked up her dress like 2 or 3 nights before the wedding. . .

i will be doing this too no way i am risking getting it messed up!

I plan on keeping it in the shop until the last minute (a week or so before). From there I will either store it at my parents or FIL's house.

I ordered my dress last weekend and I'm not getting married until 2008 but it's going to take about a year or more for it to come in cause of all the work and then after that the store will hold it for me and I hope to pick it up the week of the wedding. I know the store I bought it at doesn't charge extra for holding it.


If I brought it home with my luck my very placid dog would go crazy and do something to it!

My gown will be in sometime during the spring of next year and I plan to keep it at my Pop's house because that is the safest place for it until

i ordered my dress, but the shop is going to keep it for me until i am ready to do the alterations.... that is why i left a balance on the dress... so i would not bring it home and have to worry about it.

im leaving it at the bridal shop...once all alts are done it will be at my parents!

This is what mine is doing! My only fear of having in hanging around in my house, minus FH finding it would be me the queen of clumsy getting something on it. I also have no space but in the basement and then it'll smell kind of musty. eww
