List of questions to ask reception sites???

Hi all! My fiance and I are driving up to LI this afternoon to spend the weekend looking at places to have our reception. My question is this: what should I ask them? Are there any specific pitfalls I should be aware of besides booking a place that requires me to use their vendors? Thanks, Becky

I would check out the Knot.com, they have a list of questions for every type of vendor. Things to watch for: What exactly is included in the per person charge? A few places we went to included centerpieces and cake, while others included only one. Also arrangemens for credits if these items are included and you do not plan to use them. The minimum guarantees and the maximum capacity of rooms and make sure the name of the room is on any contract. If there is more than one wedding at the reception place, find out if they stagger the start times so 2 wedding parties are not arriving at the same time. How are tips/gratuties handled, is it included in the service charge? Is there valet parking? I was surprised this was sometimes an extra cost I know there's probably millions more, but these were the ones that popped into my head. Good luck with your search and have a safe trip!

Obviously we loved the place! We are getting married on Sat 9/21, an evening wedding. I liked that there is only one wedding at a time, the beautiful fireplaces, the woodwork in the main party room and the seperate cocktail areas. They are pretty flexible with menu selections and so far dealing with them has been a pleasure. Have you looked there already? What did you think?
