Adult Reception
What will people think, I was looking at invitations and one of the choices for the reception card wording is, 'Please join us for an adult reception ....'I want there to be no confusion about not wanting kids at the reception but I don't want to be rude and offend my guests.

Re: Adult Reception
We did this. I think it will be clear to those who are thinking of bringing their kids. It's not rude at all.

Re: Adult Reception
as you probably already know (but i'll write it just in case u don't!!)on the inner envelopes of the invitations- list the names of those invited---this might help to make it clear too!

Re: Adult Reception
I think that sounds great. It sounds a lot better than No Children Allowed.

Re: Adult Reception
i don't think it's rude.another option--on the response card--i saw a girl who put ' ___ places have been reserved for you' and then they hand wrote the number, (i.e.--2 , for just the couple, and no kid' and that way the guests knew it was just for THEM 2 and not the kids.

Re: Adult Reception
I don't think it's rude. My printer made a suggestion and I am following her advice. She suggested that I put the words 'Adult Reception' on the lower left hand corner of the reply card or the reception card instead of the actual invitiation.I am not using reception cards because I am doing everything in one place, so I placed the info on the response card.

Re: Adult Reception
I am definitly doing this because the only kids I want at the party are the ones in the bridal party. It is really hard to enjoy such a planed evening if you have children who will be bored and will just want to run around the whole evening

Re: Adult Reception
In addition to the wording 'Adult reception immediately to follow' I was thinking too of doing in the RSVP cards...Please circle the number of guests in your party: 1 or 2.
This way it makes it clear that they cannot have more than 2 in a party and we don't want kids outside the BP... and for single friends it doesn't make them feel bad about not having a date should that be the case. I know most of the time you can put for singles that you are holding 2 places and invite them and guest, but what if they come alone... I have 2 male friends in their 40's who are very comfortable being single and are good minglers... don't want anyone to feel awkward coming alone... God knows when I was single I had to go alone to a few weddings.
