Ceremony at Reception site $$ question
Hi there! Im recently engaged and trying to plan a wedding on Long Island from Washington, DC. Fun :PMy question for you very knowledgeable girls... I plan to have my ceremony at my location site. I am leaning towards the Hamlet Wind Watch. Their policy is that you pay $5 per person for the ceremony to be there. Is this standard? It seems awfully high. The other sites Ive called quote me a flat rate (usually about $350).
Please let me know if you have any input!
Thanks!

Re: Ceremony at Reception site $$ question
I visited 25 halls. The lowest flat rate I was quoted was $550. The majority quoted me $600, and I think one or two quoted me $700, and one quoted me $900.Edit to add:
Not one hall quoted me a per person rate for the ceremony.

Re: Ceremony at Reception site $$ question
we paid $450 to have our ceremony at the hall. we then rented the ceremony flowers from them for an additional $300 which was a GREAT deal! it would have cost us a LOT more than that if we had to provide flowers for the ceremony.

Re: Ceremony at Reception site $$ question
I have never heard of a per person rate for the ceremony. Every place I went charged one flat fee.

Re: Ceremony at Reception site $$ question
It must be a hamlet thing. We were quoted the same thing to have a ceremony at the hall. It ended up being a similar amount that we are paying to get married at the church but we just decided to do the church. One other hall that we went to said $1000 for the ceremony, that seemed high

Re: Ceremony at Reception site $$ question
We went to well over 20 halls and ceremony fees ranged from $500 - $1,000 at the places we checked - not including clergy but some do include flowers with the fee. None told us a per person fee

Re: Ceremony at Reception site $$ question
I am paying $750 but I would definitely ask them if they could provide you with a flat rate. As someone said, are you really going to have an exact head count of who will be attending the ceremony? To pay per person would be difficult.

Re: Ceremony at Reception site $$ question
A per person rate sounds a little strange. Do they just use the number that are attending the reception as the rate that you pay? I would probably try to negotiate a flat fee. My hall charges $700 to get married there.ETA: BTW I'm planning from DC too! It kind of stinks planning from out of state, but there are quite a few women on this boards in the DC area.
