Wedding Halls Suggestions & Opinions
I am looking for a wedding hall suggestions (for March 2003), Nothing too elaborate, more cozy feeling. Any suggestions would be great. Also looking for reasonable rates, (we are paying for it ourselves so dont want to break the bank). Preferably no gaudy chandeliers! Also needs to accomadate 200 (maybe more) people. Thanks ahead of time Kimberly

Wedding Halls Suggestions & Opinions
You should definitely look in to Milleridge Cottage. We are getting married there in October and one of my criteria when I was looking was no crystal chandeliers......as well as no carpet and no clashing chairs......LOL Check it out.it is beyond cozy and so beautiful.I fell in love.....As far as $$$$ it is not cheap but I think reasonable..depending on your day and time of choice.........Good Luck

Smithtown Landing Country Club
It was $62pp when I booked in 2000 think it's a bit more now. But 200 is the max it will hold and that's a bit crowded. Check it out at www.lessing.com

Knights of Columbus in Seaford
We're paying for our wedding also and our budget didn't allow us to pay $100+ a head! We decided to get married at the Knights of Columbus hall in Seaford. Actually, they like to be called the Memorare Club. They don't advertise or have websites, all of their business is by word of mouth. But you can get a small idea of the hall from pictures on the island balloons website. The KoC is hall with the mauve tablecloths. Their prices are great and the hall is huge, fitting up to 300 people, I think. Their number is 516-826-1542.

John Anthony`s on the Water
Their upstairs room, called the Majestic Bay Room, should be big enough to fit over 200 people .. I forget what the maximum was on that room, but I do believe it was over 200. We felt their prices were extremely fair for what we got .. the amount of food at the cocktail hour was amazing .. besides several different stations, there were butler passed trays of hors d`vors but also pina coladas and margaritas. Our tables all had bottles of white and red wine, we had a champagne toast, they put covers on the chairs, which we didn`t even know we were getting and looked beautiful. Our cake was included, and we also had an ice cream sundae bar. And I`m sure there`s more that I`m forgetting. All the food was excellent, and I can`t believe anyone went home hungry that night. The service was very good, and the staff at John Anthony`s made the final weeks of arrangements as stress free as could possibly be expected. They were very thoughtful and polite when I needed to call several times to reduce our final count, and then to rearrange our seating chart last minute. The view from all the rooms are beautiful, and you can get some really pretty shots from the deck. John Anthony`s lacks the gardens that some other places have, but the ocean view more than makes up for this. http://www.johnanthonys.com

try Sunset Harbour in Patchogue or the Island Hills Golf and Country Club in Oakdale ( i think) Both have very reasonable prices and are not at all gaudy.

My sister got married at the Meadow Club in Port Jefferson, and it was really nice. The price is really great for a Sat. evening. I think she paid about $63 pp.

Smithtown Landing Country Club
I am having my wedding at Smithtown Landing. It is AWESOME! Kathy and Ginny are both really nice and helpful. The place is breath taking. You have the golf coarse and the water. the best of both worlds.

Some other places to look at
My stepmom and dad used the KFC in Bellmore and it was really nice. I booked the Hamlet Windwatch. It is very elegant. They still have pre-construction pricing at around $85/pp. That will go up to $100+ soon. The Miller Ridge Cottage is their big hall and it beautiful. I think it holds over 350 fully opened. It costs more than $100/pp. The Carriage House (Smaller hall located within their village) is less expensive but I think holds around 100 or so. Meadow Club is very nice and has a very large room. It is around $65 or so. Port Jefferson Country Club is very nice. Not sure how many they can hold. You may want to consider a day wedding or Friday/Sunday. That will help you get costs down.

Bridgeview Yacht CLub
We booked Bridgeview in Island Park. It's a 1-wedding-at-a-time place, water view, indoor/outdoor space, and they can accommodate up to 300 in their main ballroom (a permanent-fixture tent) w/a minimum guarantee of 150. You should check it out. Pricing in March is $85++ for Sat night, $75++ for Fri/Sun. They have been great to work with so far.
