Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

I think i'm going to ask my florist if he will set them up, for a service fee of course. There is NO WAY i'm goign to be abel to get to the reception hall and set them up before the wedding.

So, if he charges me 10-20 a cp that is worth it, for peace of mind at least.

Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

We're going to have the CPs all made up and bring them over to the hall the week of the wedding. Then on the day of someone from the hall will set them up on the tables. As far as paying them, I think their regular tip will cover it.

So you have something that can just easily be laid out on the tables? I am planning in probably 5 glasses per table with glass marbley things in the bottom and floating candles. They will all have to be filled with water and all of the candles lit so I am not sure what I can do.

Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

I do not suggest giving the responsibility to the catering hall. They will not put much attention into your cps and will not usually make sure it is just the way you want it. Speak to your catering hall first, to make sure they are willing to take on this responsibility.

Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

We talked to our BM at East Wind. He said we just have to assemble them (we're doing candle garden cps). We have to put them in boxes and someone at East Wind will put them out on the table when they are setting up the room.

Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

I asked 4 friends/family members to do it for me. I figured with that many people, it would go quickly and then they could head to the CH and enjoy themselves.

My SIL brought everything to the hall for me right before the reception.

Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

I am a lucky girl since we chose to have our wedding at a place where we have an in ( ) I with my BP will decorate & set the dining room for the reception the day before...

The day of the wedding is where the hired help will be setting up the ceremony room & cocktail room.

I actually debated w/ hiring a doc to exacute my plans but they would charge me the same as though they would help me create them, IMHO I think that they overcharge... & I will seek elsewhere for the professional help

Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

i asked my cousin if she wouldnt mind doing them.. (i hope she is able to make it early enough, she hasnt done her fall schedule yet) she is SOOOO crafty and i trust her to make them look great! one of my aunts volunteered and i know my god mother will not have a problem helping too! there is a little bit of time between the church and cocktail hour.. and when photographer is doing bride and groom pics the BP can help out too, if it is plausable... i will offer who ever helps to ride in the limo with the BP straight to the reception hall.. or if i decide to hire a DOC, that would be part of her job too...

This is what we're doing. The candles will be glued in and the glass holders will be glued to the mirror. The petals inside the hurricane vase will already be there. All the set-up person has to do is light the candles and put some petals around the outside. I don't think it'll be a problem, I've already spoken to my BM and got the OK.

Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

I am checking out my 'included' options (the centerpieces are ''free'' and included) but if i dont like them (which i have a feeling i won't) I will be doing DIY, and my DOC will be able to set them up for us

Re: DIY centerpiece brides...

catering halls will do it for you. matre'd want to make u happy and will do what it takes to make their $2-3 per person tip. Catering hall people have no reason not to care about your wedding unless you treat them like ****
