Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
I called the post office today b/ci really wanted to hand cancel the invites. However the PO guy told me that they go through a maching several times even if they are hand cancelled. He offered to do the hand cancelling for me, but I was like why waste time if they are gonna go through a maching anyway. The whole point of having them hand cancelled is so that they will not go through any machines at all.

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
I think that the point is to go through one less machine, so the envelopes get less damaged. But it's not a huge deal if you didn't do it.

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
We didn't do it. I saw a number of the mailed invites (I even sent one to myself to check) and the ones I saw did not look bad or damaged at all.

I am new to all this and aren't anywhere near ordering my invites, but what is hand cancelling?

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
What are you suppose to do if you want them hand cancelled? Go to the window and ask them to hand cancel your invites?

Same here. I also have a friend that works for the post office and was told, it wouldn't matter if they were hand canceled or not, they still go through two machines.

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
I didn't do it - I didn't care enough....it's the invitation that really counts imo, not the envelope.

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
I didnt- a couple of people told me theirs was busted- but I think it was b/c the mailman not the machine

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
i didn't... hand cancelling is one of my pet peeves because, like you said, they still have to go through several sorting machines to get where they are going, so i think its the last thing brides need to be stressing about. if your guests really care that theres marks or something on the invite envelope, they have bigger problems...so, we didn't do it, and had no problems at all

I watched them hand cancel my invites. I saw 4 of them after they were reveived and the outer envlopes looked pristine.

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
I am not doing it.It's just an invitation. Only close family members (parents, siblings) are going to keep it as a souvenir, the rest will throw them out without a second look.
So, I am keeping a few 'spare' if theirs got damaged.

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
Finally!!! Something I don't have to do!! I was seriously worried about this, but now I really don't care. If they go through machines either way, I am NOT wasting my time!!!

Re: Who didnt hand cancel their invites?
I didn't do it-I asked about it but they said it wasn't necessary because the invites were too big to go through the regular machine anyway. I don't know what they were trying to tell me but it worked out okay-I've seen a lot of them and they made it okay.
