Getting him to change his name

I know a few brides who had thier grooms change thier last name or both of them hyphenated it. My FH would never do that, but I really like that idea. Is anyone's groom changing his name here?

Re: Getting him to change his name

We're still having a disagreement about naming a male child after him, who is named after his deceased father, in honor of his father - there is no way in hell he would change his name.

Re: Getting him to change his name

i think fh would look at me like i had 2 heads, tell me i was insane and then proceed to NOT even answer the question with a real answer. of course, i have a ridiculous last name so even i wouldn't suggest it, but even so, he'd still say no. too much pride. hee.

Re: Getting him to change his name

Mine would rather die as well. I would love it if he changed his name to mine, i mean he acts like our family so much, he might as well. But, no, FH insists I change my name.
Oh well...

Re: Getting him to change his name

Mine said he didn't care either way. He was willing to change his or combine ours somehow and we both take a new name, but I WANT his last name. Mine's too complicated

Re: Getting him to change his name

My FH and I actually talked about this (he didn't think it was strange) and he said hyphenating or combining our names somehow was something he wouldn't mind doing. But we figured his family wouldn't be thrilled, so that was the end of it.

Same here! If I ever even brought up the subject he'd have a fit. We come from very traditional old-school families so it's expected that I change my name. However, for my business cards, I may hyphenate. My last name has become quite familiar with my buyers and I don't want to lose the following...

Re: Getting him to change his name

DH is the last male child in his family. I'd never even ask him to do that.

Re: Getting him to change his name

His name is a lot shorter and easier to spell and pronounce so I will happily take his.

I wouldn't ask him to change his, the way that I expected him to understand that I wouldn't change mine.
