Catholic Church Wedding options?

Has anyone found a Catholic Church in Stony Brook/central Suffolk area that will marry a couple if they are not members of that parish? I belong to one parish, my FH belongs to another, but both are an hour away from RH. I hate to have guests, esp. OOT, driving all over.

Also, we would love to schedule the Church later than 3pm, as potential RH starts at 7:30.

Any suggestions? We are afraid that if we have the Church so far from RH, and so many hours before, that many people will skip the Chuirch, esp. if they are in hotels near the RH. Thanks for any help!

The only church I know of taht will take you if you are not a member is st john baptist in wading river.. I found that the churches were very strict with being a member .. so now I am getting married at the church in my town.

Re: Catholic Church Wedding options?

Most churches do require you to be a parishoner because they get so many inquiries and parishoners get first priority, but call and check...you might get lucky!!!! Also, if you're getting married on a SATURDAY most churches will NOT marry you past 3:00 PM because they will probably have a 5:00 PM regular Mass for parishoners. If you are getting married on a Friday I've been to a 4:30 wedding and a 5:00 wedding... don't know if they go past that. if you have a large time gap...perhaps your guests won't mind the long drive b/w your own church and your hall???

GOOD LUCK!

Re: Catholic Church Wedding options?

You can try this web site: http://www.drvc.org/
or link: Diocese of Rockville Centre

Click on Parishes, choose the county, then choose the town and it will give you all the information you need to contact local churches and ask them if they will allow a non-parishner to be married there.

Let me know if you need any help. I'm getting married in Port Jefferson, so I'm familiar with the area!

Good luck!

We're getting married at 2pm. I wanted later but our options were 11, 2, and 6:15 and the last one was too late.

Re: Catholic Church Wedding options?

Hi! Churches in the Port Jeff area would be very helpful!

I guess the only way to have a later Sat. wedding is to find a parish that has a church and a separate chapel, I've heard there are a few on LI but I don't know where.... and we really did want to get married in church. Thanks!
