Food help
Ok so this year i decided tha since so many good things ( some bad too , but life goes on) happend to me and my FH we decided to fast this yer b4 Easter. Technically we are supposed to fast every year but its hard. The catholics give up something for lent, well we ( Greek-Orthodox) have a 40 day very strict food fast . They say its 40 days but it is usually longer, something like 50.We are supposed to fats everything that originated from blood. Meaning, all meat, all dairy, all poultry...
My FH is only fasting the meat but I decided to do the fasting to the full extent.
Any sugestions of foods that can help me get through the next few days other than pasta and rice.. i dont wanna gain much weight. lol...

Re: Food help
My friend is GO and does the fast the week before easter - she lives on lentils. I suggest nuts, legumes, soy products, tons of fruits and vegetables. Make sure you olive oil to your vegetables because you'll need fat. You may also want to eat protein bars to keep your energy up and break up the monotony of rice, pasta and bread.eta - I forgot soups! Tomato, vegetable, lentil, etc.

Yum! Definitely Steamed vegetable dumplings! Trader Joe's sells gyoza (can't spell) Japanese potstickers that are vegetable - they are really good!
Also lots of veggies, salads, soy products, veggie burgers.... and switch up your meals with pasta and rice. You can make a nice vegetable stir fry with some rice! Good luck!

that's true actually. grill them, then add a little garlic, salt, vinegar and olive oil and you have a great meal and it's healthy
you can add some red and green peppers for some variety too
