Is anyone doing a really big wedding cake ?
I met with Jay from Jay's cake, The cake i'm getting is 6 tiers and flowers in the middle which makes the cake close to 5 feet. Is that to high ?

Woah! I'm 5 ft tall! That sound a little big to me. If you look in the bride's review board, you'll see the size of cake people usually get. It's usually 3 or 4 tiers.edited for spelling

Re: Is anyone doing a really big wedding cake ?
My caterer told me that the amount of tiers often has to do with the amount of people attending as I originally had wanted 4 tiers but ended up with three, taking the top home. If I went with 4 tiers, the cake would have been wasted. Something to consider.

That sounds a bit much. Overdoing it if you ask me. But if you have alot of people attending, the cake will probably suit your needs!! Besides jay will do whats best, afterall he does this for a living, right?

I say go for it. I'm all about big cakes. Since my wedding is going to be small I was thinking about having a fake layer or two just so I could have a big cake. I think you can save money by doing it that way as well.

i say go for it.. my view is go all out u hope that ur only going to be doing this once.. so why do things other then the way YOU want to do them.. let it be 5ft tall .. it will be one of the high lites of ur night..you dont want to look back years later and say i wish i did this and i wish i did that

I don't know how many feet it was - it was 6 tiers, but here's a picture...
oh I would have been so sad to have to be the one to cut that!

Re: Is anyone doing a really big wedding cake ?
My cake sounds like what you are describing except I only had 4 layers. It was pretty big, but def not 5 feet. I would estimate it at about 3 ft or so maybe 3.5 ft.Welcome New Vendors
