I think there all going to be about the same although you may find some a little less expensive in Franklin Square.
BTW-none of these places are going to be cheap.

Your right, none of the above our cheap. I guess since they are close to the Queens border the prices are more $$.

Re: Buying a House
the further west you go, the higher the prices go. in my opinion, the last place in Nassau with still very 'cheap' housing is Levittown or Hicksville. But if you want a basement, stay out of Levittown. The taxes are still pretty good in Hicksville. I showed a house the other day, completely redone (new roof, new siding, new appliances, etc.), 3 beds, 1 bath, full finished bsmt, $469k with taxes at $5k.

Yikes! Really! Now I have a good idea what my house is worth!
I agree though, the further west, more $$.

Re: Buying a House
These are some of the areas we were looking in when we started looking. If you don't mind small (40x100), I agree that you will prob find the lowest prices in Franklin Square. We looked at some reasonably priced houses in Floral Park, but they were right near South Floral Park, which isn't such a nice area. If we didn't drive around a lot, we wouldn't have known. What shocked me about the homes in both FS and FP, was how dirty they were compared to some other areas we looked in. I don't know what that was all about...
We are actually buying in North Bellmore. Prices weren't much higher, great schools, a little further out, and a 88x108 property. We won't grow out of that as quickly
Good luck!!

It's just crazy how much houses cost. I currently own a coop apt. in Rego Park, Queens but work in Bethpage. FH lives at home in Sunnyside, Queens and works in New Rochelle, Westchester. We were thinking Franklin Sq/Floral Park because it's a good area but also good location for both of our jobs.

Re: Buying a House
You will get more for your money going a little farther east. It's really not that bad.

try Malverne or Lynbrook. a bit more affordable. there is a great house on Ocean Ave, completely redone for $449k. FM me if you want to take a look at this one or any other ones in the area.

Re: Buying a House
ummm...I live in FS and I gotta tell you...it's not any cheaper than FP or NHP. They're all comparable in price. To get a 'decent' house you're looking at spending over $500k... The houses and section that we live in the cheapest I saw was $524,000 and that was crap. To get a half way decent house you have to spend $569,000
My dreams of staying here are just that...a dream....
