NWR: thank G O D for the fire department

My sister just had a fire at her house in Islandia

Her DH was home and saw smoke in the den. He then went to the laundry room and felt the door , it was cold so he opened it....to a laundry room and garage engulfed in flames. My sister was not home at the time. BIL got the two dogs and himself out of the house.

The FD responded quickly and put out the fire. What a scary experience.....thank g o d everyone is okay

wow! that is horrible! I hope not too much damage was done.

Thanks girls, the FD said there was smoke and fire damage all the way to the studs. They had to rip open all the walls in the garage and break 2 windows in the house. The main thing is that everyone is okay and as my sister said 'my wedding stuff is all safe'...like that matters in the scheme of things.

They said the fire started in the dryer, the lint caught on fire. Even though my sister empties it all the time, please everyone clean out your dryers regularly and NEVER leave them on when sleeping or not home.

OMG!!!! So glad everyone is safe!!! DH thinks I'm nuts if I'm running the dryer and we have to go out, I turn it off. I never leave it on when we're not home!

My FMIL is the same way. She won't let FH leave the dryer, or washer for that matter, on if there's noone home.
