NWR:phobias repost

i'm home from work today.

i'm watching the maury povich show and its about people with phobias.

there was a woman scared of mustard and another with a fear of pickles

those ppl on Maury are a bit extreme i think. where like the lady screams bloody murder and runs like a bat outta hell from a jar of pickles! crazy!

i myself have a very odd phobia--i have one of seaweed in the ocean. like i won't run from a sushi bar for seaweed wrapped things--but in the ocean, if there is any seaweed washing up or touching me in the water--i start to panic and freak out! i don't go into the ocean very much for this reason. lol

i agree, i think that the pickles and lettuce phobias are very extreme and i don't understand why they would be afraid of them!! it's a pickle?!

but i don't think the fear of seaweed in the ocean is odd at all--it's gross, i HATE when it touches me!!! HATE!!! lol i guess i have it too...

i can understand being afraid of them, i used to be!! but now i have a snake, he's very sweet, i know that sounds crazy b/c he's a snake but he's a nice animal.
i used to be afraid of them SO much but then when i met my fh (the snake was his--now 'ours' lol) and i realized that they are pretty harmless (except the HUGE 12 feet ones of course--but even those, if they are fed reguarly, want nothing to do with hurting humans)....
we have a red-tail boa and believe it or not i'm pretty positive that my cat could do more 'damage' than our boa! my cat makes me bleed and will scratch, hiss and bite me sometimes!! The snake (Jethro) has never done anything to me, he just sits ther and curls up in my lap or on my hand.
aww, i hope one day you won't be afraid of them anymore--if i can get over it, you can! it was hard at first though!! but then i got used to him once i realized he was sitting on me and NOT hurting me. My FH used to say 'even if he DOES bite you, he won't even break the skin! he has NO teeth!' So i would laugh! he's kinda right lol

I have a phobia of apylisia. It's this marine animal that had a lot of roots in Neuroscience research. Since I'm a Neuroscience PhD student, I see aplysia in my textbooks ALL the time. I get so freaked out and have to turn the page. Do a google image search...they are freaky creatures!

i am absolutely terrified of needles...i faint when the dr takes blood, and when i know i have to get a needle on an appt i cancel about 2-3 times before going and then have my mom come with me and hold me down while i cry hystrical, im not j/k i dont know what thats about

i will probably have a natural birth even if its so painful b/c im more scared of the damn epideral than the pushing
