NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

Okay, so I'm starting to freak out because my GMATs exam is on Saturday and I feel so unprepared. For those who took it, do you have any suggestions?

Also, has anyone gotten their MBA from Hofstra? If so, what did you score on the GMATs to get in???

Any and all advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

I took them about 3 years ago.

It goes very quickly, so just take deep breaths and relax. The fact that you get your score immediately from the computer really helps, you dont stress for weeks waiting for your score.

I wouldnt spend too much time/put too much effort into the writing part. its computer graded and I was so worn out when I wrote it and still got a really good score, and Im a crappy writer.

Relax, and worst case scenario, you take it again!

Re: NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

I took them awhile ago.

It's a bit different than any other test I had ever taken because it was on the computer. It's weird not being able to skip questions and the reading comprehension was difficult for me since it was on the screen.

I just recommend dressing comfy!

You'll do fine!

Dress comfy, relax and you'll do fine. I took it about three years ago. I'm a horrible test taker and I got about a 650 on it.

Re: NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

I took it last year, and it's a different test than any others b/c it's on the computer. I had difficulty with the reading comprehension section b/c of that fact, but took my time.

I would honestly recm'd wearing comfy clothing (I wore sweats and slippers) and make sure you get as much rest the night before.

I kept taking practice exams over and over until I felt comfortable sitting in one spot (on the computer) for the extended period of time. It's important to at least sit down and take one full practice exam in the same type of environment to prepare yourself.

Re: NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

I have been studying and taking practice exams. I think I may be rushing too much b/c I always seem to have like 20-25 minutes left over on the test. I think if I just sat down and took it seriously (or I should say more seriously) then I might get a more accurate score. Maybe that's why I'm so nervous.

Thanks for all the advice. Anyone gone to Hofstra for their MBA?

Re: NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

How are you doing on the practice tests? If you're getting a high enough score, then don't worry about the amount of time you have left over. HTH

Re: NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

I took it a few years ago and thankfully I scored higher on the real test than on any practice test I took.

I didn't mind the computer thing, it's better than scribbling with a pencil into little circles, but you don't get to go back if you make a mistake.

Just try to relax before you go in and bring a sweater in case its cold in there.

Re: NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

I would suggest reading everything twice and do not rush. It is honestly not an easy test.

Re: NWR...calling all who took the GMATS.

I haven't been doing so well on the practice exams...that's why I'm so worried. But again, I think the reason for that its b/c I'm home and have a million other things to do and can't concentrate. The first one I took I did well on and since studying it's been downhill, lol. Go figure.
