holy ****!!!!!!!!

I'm applying for jobs as a teacher... and I just got an email for an interview from Half Hollow Hills!

This is really huge for me because the market is so flooded and I'm a new teacher, so I really thought I wouldn't even get calls from anywhere but private schools and places in the city that are really desperate for teachers, or for sub positions... Forget for a nice district like Half Hollow Hills! I probably won't get the job, but I can't even tell you what a huge confidence booster this is! I was starting to feel like I had no chance at a decent job...

sorry, just had to share, I'm telling basically everybody I know... It will probably come to nothing, but just getting the interview is huge for me.

My FH has been teaching in queens for 3 years, and he scored two interviews already. One he didn't get a second interview, but the other is very promising. I'll send you both luck!

That's awesome!!! I am a teacher in Sachem, and the best advice I can give you is to answer the interview questions based on experiences that you have had in student teaching, subbing, TA-ing. If they ask about a specific strategy, talk about a time that you used it! And be confidant and be yourself! Best of Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

secondary, English... that's why it's so flooded, high school English teachers are a dime a dozen! Probably even more so than a lot of other kinds of teachers...

Thank you, that's great advice! That's what I always try to do... it's just so hard to say the right thing on the spot sometimes, and then of course I beat myself up the rest of the day for what I *should* have said

Good Luck! I sent out over 100 resumes and I only got 4 interviews when I graduated! It's tought out there!

ohh congrats!!! both myself and FH are on the same boat as you for september but we have only been applying to city schools- hopefully a decent district will call us back!!! SOOOOOOOO STRESSFULLLLL!!!!
