NWR: Hot Yoga
I tried it for the first time at the Yoga Oasis in Woodbury and I think I sweated out about 2 gallons!! I had to stop 3/4 of the way through because I was so dizzy. Anyone else ever do this type of yoga?I think I'm sticking to the gym!!!

I work out a lot, but I am not good with the heat. I usually get light headed and start blacking out in a Sauna.

Re: NWR: Hot Yoga
Yes this is also called Bikram Yoga. And i must say I love it. It relieves so much stress and releases toxins from your body. It also helps with losing weight faster.

Re: NWR: Hot Yoga
yes... you have to bring a lot of water with you so you don't get dehydrated (which it sounds like you did). Also a towel helps.

Re: NWR: Hot Yoga
I've done Bikram a few times. It's intense! I stopped partially because the class times were inconvenient and partially because I'm a wimp. It's certainly not for everyone.

Re: NWR: Hot Yoga
I NEVER thought that I would like it or that I woudl even be able to make it through with teh heat. My sister does it religiously and convinced me to try it and I really enjoyed it. It is tough b/c it is so hot but I am not good in the heat and I survived! I def think it is not for everyone but I also think you would be surprised to see how you can handle itAlso, it is so importnat to drink water during the class BUT it is also very important to drink a ton of water BEFORE you go. You need to be so hydrated well befro eyou even get into the room

i have heard of it - though i have never done it. i know someone who does it - and she said its something that you become acclimated to.she still says there are times she gets dizzy.

Re: NWR: Hot Yoga
i do bikram yoga and i agree it's wonderful but you definitey have to get used to it and drink plenty of fluids. it releases toxins in your body, helps you stretch better & you do lose water weight faster!

Re: NWR: Hot Yoga
I wanted to try it for the longest time. But now I have been doing Vinyasa (flow) yoga, and it's NOT hot but I still get dizzy. I get dizzy doing yoga anytime I have to keep my head lower than the rest of my body. I am going to ask my doctor if that could be related to sinus and allergy problems. Anyway, the class I go to is on Weds. in Commack and it's great and is $10 a class. So, because of the dizziness I am now afraid to try Bikram!
