silk flowers vs. real flowers opinions.... *NM*

As long as my bouquet is real, all other flowers can be silk as long as they look good.

silk flowers vs. real flowers opinions.... *NM*

I used silk flowers - I was and still am VERY happy with them. It was the best decision I made. I had gone to a wedding a few months before my wedding and loved the brides flowers, when it was time to do my flowers, I asked the bride who her florist was and found out they were silk! I had no idea! They looked so real!!!! So i went with silk too! Everyone loved all the bouquets and the centerpieces. I would definitely recommend going with silk - but I`m sure it makes a difference who does them - the woman I went to is in Staten Island, let me know if you want her info! Good luck!

I honestly never thought about going with silk. I've just heard from other brides here that silk can be just as expensive. Is there a reason why you'd want silk instead of real flowers?

i would assume that they would last longer than the real flowers and that i could maybe whoever takes the centerpieces home could really enjoy them.

silk flowers vs. real flowers opinions....

I think this is a personal decision. I really love real flowers and therefore am getting real ones. I am not a fan of silk flowers, and do not have any in my home. I love to garden and grow flowers. BUT this is just my opinion. You should do what makes you happy.

Re:FebruaryBride

I'd love to hear a little more about where you bought your flowers. I've been tossing around the idea of silk flowers, but unless they look very real, there's no way my mother will agree with getting them.

i used silk & LOVE THEM STILL!

Used SIlk for all personal flowers. Had hurricane lamps for centerpieces. FLowers looked VERY life like, did not droop in the heat (JULY OUTDOOR WEDDING), did not attract bees, and I did not have to worry about the delivery time on our special day. Had the flowers about 2 weeks b4 the wedding packaged nicely in a huge box. And now I have my bouquet ( with hubby grandmother hankie attached to the holder) on display in our living rm with our unity candle. Also have 2 BMS bouq and the Pompadour ball from the flower girl. All in great condition- and dust free! Just my 2 cents....

Just my opinion...

but I have yet to see a silk arrangement that can pass as real. Some people can't tell the difference but many people can. There are advantages to silks (perserving and no timeline to work with) but I don't think they compare with real flowers. If it doesn't bother you either way - go with what you prefer.

KittyKat....

When I saw the bride and bridesmaids flowers I knew I was going to go to the same florist! When I finally asked who they used that`s when I found out they were silk! I had NEVER thought of getting silk before..... The woman I used is in Staten Island, if you`re interested give me your email address and i`ll forward you her info. Trust me....you will not be disappointed - I promise! I went back to the store about 5 times making changes to my bouquet, the bridesmaids and the centerpieces - that`s a benefit of silk...you can make changes and you get EXACTLY what you want! If I can get my hands on a scanner I`ll send you some pics so you can see!! My stepfather was not for the silk flowers either...but when I took him into the store to pick them up - He couldn`t believe they were silk - he kept touching them and asking 'they aren`t fresh' That made me feel so good that he loved them!
