Question about number of guests
Hi girls, Any idea what the average number of people who respond no is? I once heard 20%, does that sound right? Thanks!

Question about number of guests
I think that sounds about right...but expect more if you are inviting a lot of out of town guests.

What happened to us.....a little long
My wedding is April 20th. We had to guarantee 150 people at the Watermill for a Saturday after. We invited 195 people. In the beginning, everyone was saying yes. We were getting nervous (because we`re paying for it ourselves.) Then all the no`s started to come in at the very end. Now, we`re short about 5 people! And we can`t go to our B list because the RSVP date past already. People are so rude. If they know they`re not coming, they should mail it in early. We are going to have to ask our single friends if they want to bring guests! So out of 195, 50 people said no. Anyone else having this problem? Lisa

I heard 20-25% no's is pretty common. My FH's cousin said the same thing - the yes's come pouring in at the beginning and then they taper off and a bunch of the no's are sent on the RSVP date.

So inviting 210 for a 125 guarantee (hoping for 175 to show) is a pretty good ratio, it seems. Hope it works out for you, LisaD.

wow i`m surprised!
I also heard a 15% or so rate for saying no, but not for us...when you have to really cut your list down a lot because it is out of control, you end up with most people coming! i have had only about 6 no so far, but i have also heard that the ones who say no tend to wait for the last minute for their response...i have until april 1st before calling people!

we've got an April 1st RSVP and we're missing 60 repsonses!
its driving me crazy! I know a bunch of them are no's, but I wish they'd just respond already! I doubt I'll get anywhere close to 60 in the next week (especially since I haven't gotten any responses in the last few days). we have a guarantee of 185 - I'm hoping for a bunch of no's to bring our numbers down.

I know how you feel!!
We sent out family invites first(as we had a very large guest list and decided based on who was coming from family, we would figure out if we needed to cut friends list)in January with RSVP date of March 1st; you don't even know how many people we had to call and we still have about 6 or 7 we can't even get in touch with. We did not have to cut friends list, at least; friends RSVP date is April 5th; still have about 60 to hear from.

Question about number of guests
I also heard that you should have a B list. I never knew that people do this until I got an invitation to a wedding. The RSVP date was like two weeks after I got the invitation. I thought it was weird until someone told me that I was probably on the B list. It didn't really bother me though because we were not all that close.

Lisa, For the last 5 people did you figure in the plates you have to pay for for the photographer, videographer, etc.? We may have the same problem, but I knew that when we booked. After the response to the Save the Date cards this week I am starting to get nervous we may have more than we anticipated.

Interested in after-call numbers
I would be interested in how many were no versus yes AFTER the phone call. Is it that if you have to call they were no responses anyway? Would you all mind posting what you end up with? Thanks, Diana
