Winter in New York theme

We are doing a winter in NY theme for our wedding. I am going to name the tables after famous NY streets, such as 5th ave, Park ave, etc. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of places that I could get city skyline paper to use for the program, and I want to make the table names to look like street signs, as well as the placecards. If anyone has any suggestions of where I could get items to get this done, or any other ideas that would help with this theme, I would love to hear them.

You could take pictures of the street signs and have them scanned and alter them to size (i.e. to fit in a picture frame for example). Have you thought what kind of favors to use? One year, I bought a Christmas tree ornament of a miniature yellow checkered taxi. On the licence plate you can put your initials and wedding date. Instead of wrapping them up, you can just have them on the table to give the NYC feel. In fact, here's placecard idea: instead of street signs as place cards (just use them as the table numbers) you can write everyone's name down on small regular placecards, and then attach them to small Statue of Liberty figures, Empire State Building and Chrysler Building models. You can't get more New York than that! If you need anymore ideas, just let me know!!!!

Winter in New York theme

Hi DecBride, What kind of centerpieces are you doing? What color are your BM dresses? Are you also doing a Christmas theme or just strictly NYC? Do you live in NYC and/or have many guests coming in from out of town? Sorry for all the questions, but I am just trying to get a sense of what your vision is.

Winter in New York theme

We are doing winter and NYC. I don't want to go too overboard with NYC. We are going to do white poinsettias for the centerpieces. I think the bm's are going to wear navy and I would like to incorporate silver in there as well. We are doing win for life lottery tickets as favors, but were looking to do a second favor as well, and I would like to have that one associated with the nyc theme, I definetely loved your ideas for that. We are both from NY, Long Island, but he is a cop in the city, as were my father, brother and borther in law. Some of our guests are from out of town, but most are from some part of NY.

Just a thought

I know whenever I think of the winter in NYC I always think of the Nutcracker. Maybe you could incorporate this some how...little Nutcracker x-mas ornaments??? Maybe not everyone associates it with this but it's just another idea. Good luck with your planning

NYC

I went to a winter wedding in NYC a couple of years ago and the bride there had white poinsettas as center pieces as well. There must have been 5-6 at each table so each couple took one home. They really looked beautiful all bunched up together. However, you should remember that most of the pots and foil that go around potted poinsettas are either hunter green, red, or gold. It may not bother you, but I would want all my colors coordinated. (just as a side note, her BM's wore black and hunter green velvet).
