I HATE THE POST OFFICE!!!!

So I mailed my invites out two weeks ago and all of a sudden TODAY one of them comes back in a package from the post office and it looks like someone put it in a food processor!!!! It said something about being sorry blah blah blah - It looks like they tried to tape it back together, but it is totally destroyed! I had them hand cancelled - Doesn't that mean they weren't supposed to go through any machines, or am I misinformed??? Sorry to vent, but I'm POed!!!! How should I go about mailing this to my guest now? Should I call to tell her what happened? And I don't have a calligraphed envelope for her anymore.....please someone make me feel better!

It could have gotten damaged in transit from the post office to the persons house....I would call and maybe explain....But I would also complain to the post office.....

sorry this happened to you...

i would just call the person that the invite was meant for and just explained what happened. then if you have extra invites, just do a nice clear label or something.

unfortunately it happens... someone mailed me earrings and they got ripped right out of the envelope!

hand canceling dosnt eliminate it from all machines...

i completely agree with you about hating the post office... even though i asked them to hand cancel, the post office lady put a huge red stamp on my envelopes that said 'first class'. The stamp was completely not necessary and ruined the envelope, but apparently i am a 'bridezilla' to care about stuff like that.

Also, after waiting one whole month for mail to get forwarded to my new address, when i called the post office to try to get some answers, the supervisor john rivera actually got on the phone and made pretend he was a mail carrier 'Ralph' who could not help me!!!!
i wrote a formal complaint to his manager!
