NWR:wisdom teeth

how long do they take to come in?

my top teeth seem to be taking forever to come out, and my bottom ones are impacted, but there wasn't an infection so my dentist said as long as theyre not infected to leave them the way they are, but i'm sore.

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

i sorry you're sore, sweets!

i think it really depends on the person. My co-worker has been complaining that her wisdom teeth are coming in and they HURT for the past year and a half Sooo I guess it can take a long time.

Advil works best for the soreness!!! feel better.

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

They seem to take a while to come in. Mine have been coming in for years, and they are still not fully in. I would get them taken out though if they are impacted. They might not be infected now, but maybe you shouldn't wait? JMO. FH's wisdom teeth are impacted and is teeth hurt so bad. he is getting them taken out because of it.

they hurt from time to time, I'll feel sore and then I'm fine, but I'm more concerned with the bottom impacted ones pushing my teeth.

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

I have VERY bad impacted wisdom teeth on the bottom. My dentist said, if they don't bother me, leave them because it is a major operation to get them out.
I had one on the top taken out about 6-months ago and it was an emergency surgery one. I was fine during the day, woke up around 2:00am and never cried so hard in my life from the pain.
If it does not bother you, I say leave it

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

IMO...get them out! I had soooo many problems with them, erruptions, infections, lots of pain. I finally got so frustrated with my dentist bc he kept saying to leave them alone that I went to a new dentist, who is great BTW. He had me go to an oral surgeon the next week and removed all 4. Yes...it was horrible and I prayed for death bc the pain was intense for about 3 days. Females over 25 that take birth control pills tend to develop dry socket which is a condition that makes the hole left from the tooth dry and doesn't form a healing scab. Yes..OUCH!! BUT pain killers can help and your dentist will give them to you after that. I am allergic to codine so I couldn't take any so it was bad.

All in all, I have not had a problem with my teeth since the day they were removed 4 years ago. For me it was worth it.

Good luck sweetie, I know it $uck$!!!!

Yeah and that is the only reason why I wanted to get it done ASAP. Your teeth shift naturally, but I did notice that they were being pushed together. I am looking into invisa-line, which is like braces but you can't see it.

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

My dentist told me to just have all 4 removed before they started to come out so that they wouldnt push/crowd my other teeth. I think that was the best thing to do cause I never had to go through the agony I hear people go through when they are coming in (and the added bonus of some nice pain killers).

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

I had my 2 top wisdoms pulled 2 months ago and ohh the pain!! If they are bothering you then try to get them removed better now then never. You dont want to have to deal with it closer to your wedding.

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

I don't know how long they take, my bottom teeth are still there, but both times my top ones caused major problems total mouth pain sore throat so bad the dr. couldn't figure out what was wrong. I finally told the dr. you know my tooth hurt a little before I got the sore throat could it be my wisdom tooth. He said it's possible. So I went to the dentist he took out my top one and a day later I was as good as new. A few months later, all the same problems with the second top tooth that was back in 2001 and my bottom ones, haven't bothered me.

The top ones came out easy as pie, my regular dentist did it, he said the top ones are the hard ones. Maybe they can get rid of the top ones for you if they are bothering you so much.

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

I got my wisdom teeth when I was 16 and I never even noticed them coming in.. although when they did, they shifted all my teeth that I eventually needed to have 4 front molors removed and then braces and then gum replacement surgery, which is a whole other story.. but FH's wisdom teeth are coming in now at 29 and he's in a decent amount of pain, but he's reluctant to go the the dentist..

I say, if they bother you, go and get it checked out.. you don't want to be in pain. and they are all the way in the back, so no one will even know you don't have them!! Good Luck!!!

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

Um I know Im going to sound really nerdy now but oh well...
In fact wisdom teeth are an 'extra' in our mouths. We dont need them and thats why it is not cush a big deal when people have them pulled. Throughout time and evolution moe and more people are being born without them.
I was borm with only 2 bottom wisdom teeth and had to have 1 removed so far.... the other one has been trying to come out for over 5 years now and my gums sweel and get irritated and them it just goes away..The dentist I used to work for told me that many time they will do that ur whole life and never break surface
here is the funny part....My FH was born with only his 2 top teeth is his bone structure.. and he had to have 1 pulled. Together we made a set of 4...lol...

Both me and my FH had almost no pain during the pulling procedure.. and mine was impacted so they had to dig.
If u have a good dentist you sould be fine!!
Good luck sweety.

FH's teeth hurt because they were pushing them. This is why he was told to take them out. It will be a major surgery, but in the end it will be worth it. You don't want to live on taking advil the rest of your life because your teeth hurt.

I had all 4 of mine taken out in 1 shot when I was 12 or 13. It hurt since they were still in the gums but I'm glad they are gone when I hear about the problems they give some people.

Re: NWR:wisdom teeth

oh gosh i remember those. I knew i had a problem with my wisdom teeth when i woke up one morning and my left cheek was really swollen. i went to the dentist, and all 4 of them had to come out because they were impacted. So what i did was i took two out at the same time, and then a month leater i went for the other 2. during the surgery it was painless. after the surgery, there is a lot of bleeding, but really no pain. there is a little discomfort, but nothing out of this world. Its already been 3 years, and i feel so much better. If you don't need to take them out and the doctor says u don't fine, but if he tells u that u should, i would do it right away. the worst kind of pain is tooth pain, ouch!!
