Garth Brooks....To make you feel my love in church

Does anyone know this song? Well if you do, I love this song and would love for it to be sung in the church. We are looking for a male singer to hire now to sing ave maria and this song. But do you think is a good idea? I think the song is beautiful but i need opinions. Thanks in advance ladies!

Honest opinion

I think it's a beautiful song too but I don't think it's appropriate if your wedding is being held at a church. Have you checked with them on what is allowed? Some churches will not allow you to use this type of song. Why not have it at your reception instead? If not as your first song, then have it on the 'must play' list and when the DJ or band plays it, have them dedicate it to your hubby from you.

Honest opinion

I don't know of any Roman Catholic Church that would let you play it, and also Lutheran Churches won't let you even play here comes the bride. So please check We wanted to play Grow old with me, during out Unity candle lighting and it has many God refrences but was still considered too secular

Honest opinion

I really think it depends on the church. I was married in a Lutheran church, and they played Here Comes the Bride. I never knew there were churches that didn`t allow for that to be played. Anyway .. the song is pretty .. and we did have it played at our reception as part of the Must Play list .. only the one Billy Joel did years before the Brooks version came out .. the only thing is, I had forgotten parts of the song that everytime when I heard it made me think not to play it at the reception .. and it happened at the reception when it was played .. the parts 'I know you haven`t made your mind up yet' ... 'highway of regret' ... 'winds of change' just hit me when it was played .. but that`s just me, and I tend to over-analize everything. Definitely check with your church .. they may surprise you!

Honest opinion ~ Kel

I had the same feelings about To Make You Feel My Love (I prefer the Billy Joel version too!). While I love the song, those few words kind of made me shy away from playing it at our reception. I guess I over analyzed it as well!

Lyrics aren't suitable IMHO...

I don't think Jenn or Kel have over analyzed it....that song is not about mutual love - its about a man trying to win a hesitant woman over. It seems to be a popular song but the lyrics really aren't appropriate - sort of like patsy cline's Crazy. Its not Crazy in love for you, its 'Crazy for loving you'.

Lyrics aren`t suitable IMHO...

it is about a man trying to win a hesitant woman over, which was our case in the very beginning...but because that song has very special meaning for us and we've always considered it 'our' song, we are using it as our first dance. I would rather dance to a song that is special to us even if some of the lyrics are off, then to just pick a random song because the lyrics are good...just my opinion!
