Saint Lucia or Aruba

We are going to St. Lucia in August, a bit risky since it is the height of the hurricane season. But I have heard only wonderful things about the island. We are staying at a resort called Le Sport but a lot of people love Canneel Bay or the less expensive Westin.

Saint Lucia or Aruba

I went to Aruba on my honeymoon and it was great.. we did not stay at one the High rise hotels to save money. We ending up spending about $4200 with Airfare, Food and Hotel. We had a beautiful room that was bigger than our apartment. We had a great time...

Saint Lucia or Aruba

I have been to Aruba and it was one of my favorite trips. We stayed at the Hyatt which we love, but there are alot of hotels there in different price ranges.

Saint Lucia or Aruba

Our honeymoon in June will be to Aruba. We don't want all inclusive, b/c we want to enjoy food all over the island. Our packages for air, hotel, breakfast buffet and taxes cam to $2300 total for a deluxe ocean view room. And, I'm guessing we'll spend another 700 or so on food and stuff. So, for under 3500, that's not bad.

How long does the height of hurricane season last in St. Lucia?? I am getting married on July 5, 2003 and this is one of the places that my FI has mentioned. Would the beginning of July be considered the height of hurricane season as well?? Thanks, Becky

Saint Lucia or Aruba

One thing to consider is that Aruba is outside the hurricane belt. They are too far south to be hit by the storms. But, it comes down to what you want out of the honeymoon. We are opting for Aruba due to it's reputation for good nightlife, gambling and great food. St. Lucia may be a little more laid back. I must say, though, we got a great deal to Aruba (just about 2300 w/air hotel for 7 nights and breakfast daily at the Wyndham) for the time you're looking at. We leave 6/29 thru 7/6. Good luck!!

Saint Lucia or Aruba

We went to Sandals, St. Lucia, the Golf and Spa for our honeymoon. We LOVED it. The nightlife is great, and there are tons of things to do during the day.

All inclusive vs. none

I read alot of posts on aruba and it seems there are alot of restuarants to try etc. that you would be missing out if you went all inclusive but then are you soending more because it seems its expensive down there? Also I'm in mid may is this hurricane season in St. Lucia? Diane, please elaborate more on St. Lucia sandals I hear that it is very couple oriented which i like rather than families of kids, what kind of price am I looking at about? I really think either place would be great I have do obviosly do much more research but I just want to be in nice beaches, blue water and enjoy relaxing with my new hubby I'm sure anywhere will be fine, it's really about the money. Thanks guys

All inclusive vs. none

I would say if it is Aruba then go without all inclusive. Some of the most memorable dinners I had were there. Allthough eating there is expensive. Aruba doesnt have a Sandals, but if you go all inclusive, then Sandals is the way to go. I just got back Friday from the one in Bahamas. Good luck!

Saint Lucia or Aruba

Im not sure how long the season lasts but I will definitely do some research and get back to you. Most importantly we got travelers insurance! Le Sport where we are staying was $3200 for the two of us and is all-inclusive, wihch also includes two spa treatments a day, if you are into that. We booked through Liberty Travel, which we found to be helpful and accomodating.

All inclusive vs. none...Aruba

We didn't go w/ all inclusive in Aruba for several reasons. I'm a vegetarian and my fiance does not drink any alcohol so we don't want to pay for what we don't eat/drink. And b/c of the reputation of the food in Aruba, we don't want to be stuck in the hotel restaurants. Also, I don't want to feel like we 'should' eat b/c we payed for it (that's how you gain weight:). We don't need 3 huge meals a day, and if you don't either, try for an all inclusive breakfast buffet so that you can have a light lunch and nice dinners.
