Girls marrying at reception hall - can we still do readings?? How?
I really want to do readings, and I know I can 'do whatever I want' but LOGISTICALLY HOW do you do this? I mean, there won't be a podium or anything...Does me, DH and offciant just stand there and the person walks up and reads in front of us?
Should we have chairs nearby and sit?
Do they just stand up and just read where they are?
Help would be appreciated!!

Re: Girls marrying at reception hall - can we still do readings?? How?
We had 7 guests read blessings at our ceremony. We had them all sitting near the front and then when the time came for them to read them, they all got up and read. Our rabbi brought his mic stand out to them and they shared with him (he would read in hebrew, then someone in english). If your officiant is using a hand-held mic, he/she can just pass it to your reader, or you can see about using two mics. I'll show you pics of ours as soon as I have some.

You don't need a podium to do readings, just give your readers the readings beforehand. That's what we did. If the officiant is going to stand up there without a podium, so can your readers.ETA: I just reread your post - yes, in our wedding, the readers came and stood in front of us where the officiant was standing.

Thanks so much, ladies! Steph, I liked your idea of the officiant handing off the mic, that way it may make the readers feel more 'official' and not like they're just interrupting or something. Any other ladies have ideas or have a different way they're doing it?

i agree with the handing off of the mic. just ask your BM at your hall about this. chances are you are NOT the first bride to be getting married there that wants to do readings!
maybe they have some way to set it up for you.

Cool! Thanks so much for the pic, too!! I do have an appt with my hall to ask about all little stuff like this, but all the ladies here are a HUGE resource and often have more unique/meaningful ideas than the vendors!Welcome New Vendors
