Question about picking menu choices with catering hall?

When does the BM call to set up an appointment? How long does it take?

Just curious - my wedding is on July 14 (55 days) and we haven't done that yet with our hall.

We did ours a few weeks ago. I could call just to check and see what their procedure is.

I'm July 8 and we're doing ours on Friday. We are actually going early, though because I live in Boston and can't get to NY too much in June.

I'd just give them a call to find out the timeframe...I think most halls do it about a month before.

I did mine two weeks before, but I know some did theirs a month before.

When you meet with them, you'll go over the menu and get the seating chart paper work, along with a couple of their forms to fill out (with vendor names and contact info, etc.) I think that it took us about an hour or so to do everything.

It doesn't hurt to call now and schedule it if you really want to get it over with but it's fine to leave it for a couple of weeks before the wedding.

My wedding is July 15. My hall just called last week ( at the 2 month mark) to make an appt. We are going on May 30th to choose the menu.

JT does it 6-8 weeks prior and I just got my letter last week. I'm going on Tuesday to finalize the menu and give them vendor names and numbers. I think its usually done a month beforehand.
