NWR: My sister got a teaching job in Florida

I'm really happy for her but I'm so sad.
She's almost 30 and hasn't been able to find a job on Long Island since she gradulated years ago.
She went on an interview yesterday in the Orlando area and was hired on the spot.
I don't want her to move. We're really close and spend a lot of time together.

I need hugs.

awww! I'm sorry!!!

Now you'll just get to spend a lot of time with her in Florida! And you'll always have a place to stay when you want to go to someplace sunny! With no long distance charges and the internet and cheaper airline tickets... you'll get to see her a lot - and it will be even more special when you do! And now you have an excuse to go to Disney World! This is such a great opportunity for your sister, and I know it will be a change for your family, but you'll be fine and your closeness will not change!

I can relate....my sister had a job here teaching her her and her husband could not afford housing here. She decided to interview in Sarasota FL and was hired on the spot. She moved about 2 years ago but I feel like her being gone has almost brought us closer together (we used to butt heads a lot) The worst part now is that she had a baby and it kills me not to be able to see her as often as I would like!! Southwest tickets are usually pretty cheap though....So I go down pretty often.

It seems like a lot of people are leaving the area. My brother and SIL are moving to Atlanta next month... both got great jobs and bought a beautiful house for about a third of what it would cost up here! Good luck to your sister! I'm sure you will still keep in touch!

I can so relate. I am the youngest out of 5 and 3-years ago I became an Aunt for the first time. My Brother was always like my best friend and my Niece is my life. They decided to pick up and move to Florida last August

It does stink, but you have to remember Florida is not far at all and even though I only see them a couple of times a year as opposed to a few times a week, when I visit I feel like we bond even more now. We are both Adults, I am seeing how happy he is there and in my heart I know it is a better life for them.
