Irish Mother Son Dance Song...my son or something

Can someone help? FMIL wants this song & I heard it about 6 months ago (she has a tape) but we don't know the name of it. It's an Irish guy singer and its something about the mom 'singing' to the son about the son (I know not much to go on)

You're right, it's called 'My Son.' It is fairly popular on the Irish-American scene, so any good DJ should have it. It has been recorded by Pat Roper (personally, I'm not a fan of his voice) or by Andy Cooney.

Thank you so much....I THOUGHT that was the name but then when I did a search I get this lady Mikki something & the song was NOT the one she wanted & I' ve been holding up sending my band papers in.

Yes this is a great song!!!!! My mom's friend Danced with her son to this song!!! NOt a dry eye in the house afterwards

I don't, but I would definitely go with the Andy Cooney version. the Pat Roper version personally makes me cringe! (I sing, so I am a bit picky, but go with Andy COoney). I would ask if your DJ has it... if not, go into any Irish import shop, they should have a CD with Irish wedding songs, or an Andy Cooney album with it on it...
