Went to a wedding @ The Metropolitan 5-25-06--Review & Pics!!

This was this past Thursday evening, a second wedding for my co-worker (couple's in their mid 40s). The ceremony and reception were there, but it was hard to get pics because things were so dimmly lit, also the videoprapher was across from me, so his light overpowered my pics.

The ceremony was beautiful. I had never attended a jewish ceremony, and the words were so powerful and moving. It took a lot for me not to cry! The best parts were
4 of their kids (5 between the two of them) held up the chuppah and the 5th one carried the rings

The bride didn't walk into the room in a 'traditional' way, she came down the stairs, to her awaiting FH!! That was awesome! I knew this was going to happen, but it was still amaizng to see!!



Then it was on to the cockatil hour. My only complaints here were there was not enough seating for the 105 guests and the lines for 1 of the 2 stations was insanely long and slow. The food I did have (1 grilled shrimp, a few raw veggies and calamari) was good, especially the calamari, NOT rubbery!! The bartender was nice, but WAY too obvious w/ the 'flirting'. I went to the bar w/ my friend who is 27 but looks 20 and I ordered a coke, he says 'Are you ladies over 21?' Hi, um I only ordered a coke. Whatever. For those who have not been there, the CH is on the second floor, overlooking the reception area. This was nice. These pictures are looking down from upstairs.

It was then back downstairs for the reception. We were seated and passed around 1 of the 2 menus. My only issue was the table #s were hard to see on the table. They were clear plexiglass with black #s etched in them making them hard to find on the table.

FH said 'Geez, did you take enough pics of the cake??' They just don't get it!! This was the first wedding I have been to since we were engaged in 2004, and I see things thru different eyes now!

The appetizer was tortellini, which was SO good!! Then was ceasar salad, which I am not a fan of, so I didn't eat. The entree choices were salmon (which someone @ my table ate and said was good), Stuffed Chicken w/ peppers and olives (another person @ my table had this too and said it was good) and Filet Mignon, which I had and it was SO good, cooked exactly as I wanted, and cut very nicely. And everyone at the table had or sampled someone elses mashed potatoes and everyone agrees they were phenominal! Not lumpy and had a bit of seasoning in them! Perfection!

The cake was chocolate w/ rasperry whip filling and not sure what the other one was, but I swear it was fudge, and SOOOO good. The wait staff also came around w/ chocolate covered strawberries (milk and white chocolate). All was good!!

The bar was set up infront of where the bad was, and though it was close to most all the tables, I still would have prefered waitstaff taking and getting drinks.

City Heat was very good. There were a few technical problems (screeching microphone and a couple of early starts on pre-recorded music), but we're all human. The leader was godo at getting people dancing and respectful of those who didn't want to sing into the mic (ME!).

It was to end at 1, but being that I had been up since 6 and had to get up at 6 the next morning, I left at midnight. The Valet was timely and nice. The entire staff there was SUPERB! Everytime you walked away from your seat or a plate was removed, they moved the silverware back to it's appropriate spot and folded your napkin! I liked that! Overall, it was a great time. Anyone who is having a wedding there, or considering it, will have a wonderful affair!!

YEAH!!!! I am so excited to read this review as I am getting married at the Metropolitan in October!

That is a great reveiw from a guests point of view. I was there YEARS ago and from what I remember, things were great then too.

Thank you so much for sending that to me! :) I'm so excited, 3 months til our wedding there! Our CH will be where their cerimony was (ours is at church) and a small outdoor area so hopefully it won't be too tight!
I've always heard great things about the food & that was so important to us so I'm glad you were happy too!
