Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

I'm so sorry, I know how painful that can be!

Would you consider a chiropractor?
I have a wonderful one, (actually 2, they are a married couple) that I have gone to for years. They are both great and gentle and very caring. Located in Kings Park. Let me know if you want info.

Best wishes!

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

Chiropractor and massage (most likely more of a medical massage not spa type).

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

My mom is going through the same thing. continue with your PT and ask for at home excercises that can help you. Take it easy. No lifting things. You really need to let you back relax. May be if PT is not working go back to your dr and let him know. They changed my moms when it was not helping and now it is getting better. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

Chiropractor. And check your bed. Most beds are the culprit of aggravating old injuries.

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

I am sooo sorry. I know exactly what you are going through. In November I had my lumbar spine fused because of excruciating back pain and herniations from a car accident. Honestly-the only thing that would give me relief was accupuncture and a DRY heating pad, NOT moist. I hope that helps. Muscle relaxants didn't do much and either did pain killers. If it's an acute flare up, use ice for 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. I hope his helps!!!

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

I'm really sorry and unfortunetely know exactly what you are going through. I was a gymnast my entire life and about 7 yrs after i stopped i was in excruciating pain in my back. I had an MRI and exrays and they found tiny fractures, a herniated disc and spinal degeneration in my back. I suffered through 7 months of painkillers, physical therapy and muscle relaxers. The pain meds helped, but did nothing in the long run. What has helped me for about 6 months now where steriod shots in my back. I got a series of 3 epidural shots which seemed to have helped. My doc explained why this helped, but in all honesty i didn;t really understant the mechanics......i was willing to try anything. It's not something to take lightly, you're in the hosptial for at least 3 days and you take general anesthea......but it was worth it for me. I will probably have to do it again, but for now i've been pretty good. And before this, I was crawled up in a ball crying in pain. It was miserable. Hope this may help.....feel better!

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

My friend had the same problem that she ended up walking bent over. She ended up getting the epidural shots and that has been a god sent. You shoul dlook into that. I think that will be the best thing for you.

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

My mom also has two herniated discs in her back. She goes to or family chiropractor regularly and swears by him. They do heat therapy and massage her lower back and do some other treatments. I would definitely give it a try. You have nothing to lose.

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

I am so sorry!!! I have been going through the same deal the past two months. For the past few years I have had that kind of pain ever since a rafting accident. Recently the pain got so bad that I started to see an orthopedic surgeon who referred me to physical therapy (I found an awesome lady downtown in the city). They think I have a herniated central disk because the pain switches from leg to leg. I have to call tomorrow to get an MRI scheduled to confirm the diagnosis. I know how you feel....It would get so bad I couldn't sleep, sit, walk, stand....everything would hurt or feel uncomfortable.. I will keep you in my prayers!!!

Re: NWR .. i've been in pain for 30 days

Have you ever thought about acupuncture? For some things it is amazing, and it can be used with massage and chiropractor. Some insurances even cover it.

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this.
