1st fitting nightmare
Went last night for my first fitting. Waited over an hour to be taken. Then I put on my dress, the seamstress comes in and says' my dress is non-fixable and could go in the garbage' The manufactor messed up my hem so bad and there is no extra fabric to fix it with. I was beside myself. The manager of the store called me today and stated that they are sending me a brand new gown by next Thursday. The whole thing is a mess. I paid for the hollow to hem and now they are just ordering me a regular gown.
I hope no one else ever has to experience this.
On the bright side I had my work shower today

Re: 1st fitting nightmare
Hollow to hem measures are a nightmare. Mine is also messed up, as was Janna's. My 2nd 1st fitting (don't ask) is tomorrow, and I'm praying the hem isn't as bad I remember it.Have faith your gown will come in correctly! No worries!!

Re: 1st fitting nightmare
hollow to hem :mine was, since im only 4'11', they dress shop measures from my neck to my waist, then my waist to the floor - gives the manufacturer those measurements, along with my regular measurements.
when the dress comes in, it is already hemmed to your size.
I needed one because it couldnt be hemmed by the dress shop because of the detail on the train and along the bottom
im worried, mine is a Private Label by G too!!
im glad the shop is rushing you a dress!

I think I paid $125 extra -
the hem at the bridal store would have cost $175, so its actually cheaper. and I thought the dress would come out better but now im worried!

sorry...what is hollow to hem?
Yes, I'm not sure either????
'Hollow-to-hem is a specific length measurement used for bridal gowns only. Some designers offer the option to have a gown cut to a particular length for certain bridal gown designs. This is a difficult measurement to take. Fortunately, it is not needed for bridesmaid dresses, and only needed for a few bridal gowns. If the bridal gown you are ordering requires this measurement, we strongly recommend using a professional seamstress experienced with bridal gowns.
The hollow-to-hem measurement is taken from the depression at the base of the neck just above the collarbone to the hem. When taking this measurement, you will need to account for the fullness of an A-line or full-skirt gown by moving the tape forward away from the body, at the hem. The tape should be pulled out according to the fullness of the skirt. You will need to take the measurement with the exact heel height you will be wearing. Standard hollow-to-hem typically is 58 inches although it varies between designers.'

Re: 1st fitting nightmare
Thank you all for your nice thoughts. I know the bridal salon did not mess up it was the manufacturer who did. It was just so stressful hearing that your gown is garbage. Then they wanted to order me just a new skirt, my dress is a one piece mermaid you cant separate it.Hollow to hem: basically your dress comes in hemmed perfectly to you. Your dress doesn't have to be cut except for your waist and bust alterations.
