She told me to just send her the bill. I picked the place and negotiated with them.

Re: Is it FIL's job to plan the RD?

Traditionally, yes, the ILs are to host the RD, however, things has changed quite a bit and I know many Brides and Grooms who hosted their own. Did you speak to them about it, or have they mentioned anything to you?

I would definately find out their plans. I decided on everything and my parents paid. My ILs helped with the wedding.

Re: Is it FIL's job to plan the RD?

My MIL paid but was too busy with work to plan it. So I picked the place, mailed out invites with her return address and she paid for it. In the end, she was very happy and handled the flowers and favors for the RD herself last minute.

Re: Is it FIL's job to plan the RD?

I think it is something that needs to be figured out. My FIL's are not able to afford the RD for us... so we are planning and paying for it ourselves.

Re: Is it FIL's job to plan the RD?

My FIL offered to pay for the RD. We just left it up to them. They asked for a few suggestions on places and then checked them out and booked it on their own. Honestly, I'm happy to not have to plan another thing!

Re: Is it FIL's job to plan the RD?

They should either plan it with you or give a $ range and let you do it.

Re: Is it FIL's job to plan the RD?

My FILs are going to be paying for our RD, but they want to have it at a place they go (& FH and I sometimes go) every weekend. The problem is we dont really want it there because it would be nice to actually go somewhere else.....We still have some time so I am not gonna get my self stressed YET!!
